In addition to classic tours, we offer ultimate and challenging 4x4 off-road expeditions across the entire African continent. Our tours cover all regions of the continent. We place great value on working with experienced local guides who know the routes and culture very well, ensuring you are always in good hands. The routes have been tried and tested by our local team and are suitable for a variety of different driving skill levels. We drive every route ourselves before it is included in the program. What is not one hundred percent reliable remains a scout tour. Your 4x4 trip is tested and proven.

More about OVERCROSSFour questions decide whether a 4x4 trip fits you. Answer them for yourself and the whole catalogue usually comes down to a handful of routes you can compare properly.
You do not have to work this out alone. Tell us how much time you have and how much terrain you trust yourself with, and we will put two or three dates in front of you that actually fit.
Graded tracks and firm gravel are one thing; soft sand, rock steps and river crossings are another. We rate every route and drive it ourselves first. If you have never driven in sand, start on a beginner route: the driving is something you learn on the way.
In a guided convoy an experienced guide leads, and recovery, navigation and border formalities run through us. Self-guided, you get the route, the tracks and the accommodation, and you drive at your own pace. Each tour page says which one applies.
For many destinations we provide off-road capable vehicles on site, so you travel with luggage only. On many routes you can bring your own vehicle, and for long-haul destinations we arrange the transport. What is possible on the route you want is listed under its services.
A week is enough for Europe and North Africa, two weeks is the usual measure for long-haul destinations, and from three weeks it becomes an expedition. Count the arrival and departure days: both are in the itinerary of every route.
Not every track stays open all year. Heat, the rainy season and snow decide when a destination works for a 4x4 trip. The exact season for each country is on its travel information page.
From autumn to spring the Sahara rides best, in high summer the dunes get too hot for long stages behind the wheel.

We rate every route ourselves and drive the whole stretch before it goes into the programme. No guesswork, no polished numbers, just a clear word on what the track actually demands.
Easy tracks, short daily stages and a support vehicle always close by. The 14-day Tunisia Family & Friends trip and our one and two-day trainings in Germany and France are built for drivers without previous off-road experience.
Sand, rock and the odd river crossing mixed with graded tracks, for drivers who already have some 4x4 experience or a guided trip behind them. The 15-day Sahara tour in Tunisia and the 15-day Gladiator trip through Morocco sit at this level.
Weeks of technical driving through desert and bush, with long stages and few comforts along the way. The 45-day Transafrica Expedition Go East and the 57-day South America Explorer both call for real off-road experience and stamina.

On every tour page you can request your date or book it directly. We check availability, then send you the booking confirmation with all included services and the insolvency certificate. Only after that is the deposit due. If you are still weighing up which tour fits, write or call us and we will go through the dates with you before you commit.
Once the contract is concluded and the insolvency certificate handed over, 25% of the trip price is due, and at least 500 EUR where the price exceeds that. The balance is payable two months before departure. If you book later than two months before the start, the full price is due when the travel documents are handed over. The full payment terms are in our travel terms.
You may withdraw at any time before departure; what counts is the moment your declaration reaches us. The flat-rate compensation is staged by date:

The minimum number of participants is stated on each tour. If it is not reached we may withdraw within the statutory periods of § 651h of the German Civil Code, and payments already made are refunded without delay. We ride in small groups as a rule, and we will tell you the likely group size for your date before you book.
