Malawi: Self-drive safari north

Welcome to the warm heart of Africa! Upon your arrival at the international airport in Lilongwe, you will be greeted by one of our staff & receive all your documents with information that you will need for the next 13 days. Your first two nights will be at the Blue Zebra Lodge on Zebra Island. The lodge's chalets are nestled in an untouched landscape, where guests are surrounded by nature and luxury. You have the delightful choice of relaxing by the infinity pool, renting a kayak to circle the island, playing volleyball, and using the complimentary snorkeling equipment. Meals: Full board. Distance: About 131 KM, approximately 2 hours from the airport and 30 minutes by boat from the mainland to the island.

From the Tongole Wilderness Lodge, the safari journey continues to Chelinda in the Nyika National Park. The Chelinda Lodge is situated in the midst of a small Hagenia forest and offers a breathtaking view of the endless, gently rolling grasslands of the Nyika Nature Park, crisscrossed by large herds of Sitatunga, Eland, and zebras. Here, there are safari experiences from the terrace. The dense forest behind the Chelinda Lodge creates a perfect, sheltered setting for an idyllic break in the elevated wild steppe of Malawi. All good things have an end, so unfortunately does your safari trip through northern Malawi. Today you fly back to Lilongwe International Airport, and from there back home or to another destination in Africa (we are happy to assist with a combination trip). Hopefully we will see you again very soon! Distance: About a 1.5 hour flight from Likoma to Lilongwe.
