Thanks to the varied climate, everyone can find the best time to travel for unforgettable experiences in Chile.
You do not need any driving experience or your own vehicle for either of our Chile trips. The 14-day Atacama & Patagonia tour and the 16-day Patagonia group trip through Chile and Argentina are fully guided: you travel in an air-conditioned group vehicle with a local, multilingual guide, so you can watch the landscape instead of navigating it.
Physically, the trips ask the most of you on the walking days: in Torres del Paine National Park and around the Perito Moreno Glacier. Normal fitness is enough, these are well-built trails, not technical mountaineering. Pack sturdy shoes and weatherproof layers, because Patagonian weather can turn quickly from sun to wind and rain within the same afternoon.
A typical day alternates between a transfer to the next stop, a guided excursion such as a city tour in Santiago or Buenos Aires, a geyser or glacier visit, and days built entirely around a hike. The groups stay small: a maximum of 12 travelers on the Atacama & Patagonia tour and 20 on the combined Chile and Argentina trip, so both stay personal despite covering a lot of ground.
No driving experience needed: both trips are fully guided in a group vehicle. Normal fitness is enough for the hikes in Torres del Paine National Park.
Not applicable: these are fully guided group-vehicle trips, so you don't need your own vehicle or riding gear.
No fixed daily distance: your days are built around transfers, guided excursions and hikes rather than a set number of kilometres.
Days alternate between a transfer to the next stop, a guided excursion such as a city tour or geyser visit, and hiking days in the national parks.
North (Atacama Desert): a good time to travel year-round, best from April to November. Lake District & Patagonia (Torres del Paine): short summer window, November to March. Chile stretches over 4,300 km, so the best season depends on which part of the country your tour covers. Full climate details: see our Chile travel information page.
