Our India motorcycle tours cover a wide range, from the beginner-friendly Royal Enfield ride through Rajasthan, running mostly on paved roads with a few dirt sections, to the 17-day Trans-Himalaya route through Zanskar with gravel, river crossings and camp nights at altitude. Crossing Khardung La and Umling La demands extra comfort with thin mountain air and long stretches of loose gravel, on top of your riding skills. Solid road experience is enough for the Rajasthan and Gujarat routes; for Zanskar and the high passes you should be confident standing on the pegs and handling loose ground.
You ride a Royal Enfield 500cc provided on site for every tour, and a KTM Adventure 390 on the Ladakh routes; bringing your own bike is not possible for customs and logistics reasons.
Expect 150 to 250 kilometres a day, for example the roughly 245 km stage from Ahmedabad to Bajana in Gujarat, over trips lasting between 12 days on the Umling La tour and 17 days on the Trans-Himalaya route through Zanskar. A typical day opens with a briefing on the route and the terrain ahead, followed by several hours in the saddle with stops at palaces, temples or viewpoints. Evenings bring a hotel in cities like Jaipur and Jodhpur, a simple guesthouse in Leh, or a camp under the stars in Zanskar and at Umling La, always backed by a support vehicle, technical support and your guide.

Plan on 150 to 250 kilometres a day, such as the roughly 245 km stage from Ahmedabad to Bajana in Gujarat. Full trips run 12 to 17 days depending on the route.
Each day starts with a briefing on the route and terrain ahead, then several hours of riding with stops at forts, temples or viewpoints. Nights are in hotels in Rajasthan, simple guesthouses in Leh, or camps in Zanskar and at Umling La, always with a support vehicle and your guide.
India rides on two different calendars. Rajasthan and Gujarat are best from October to March, once the desert heat eases and the roads stay dry. The high Himalayan passes in Ladakh, at Umling La and through the Zanskar Valley, are only snow-free from June to September; outside that window they are closed.
