The Journey

Moto-Expedition Peace - 14 Days Offroad Adventure through Ukraine

We drive through the Carpathians, Lviv, and Kamianets-Podilskyi, where traditions are passed down from generation to generation, and then on to Irpin, Bucha, and Hostomel, where fighting took place not long ago. These places have become symbols of resistance and restoration - and you see them as they truly are: without filter, without exaggeration, but with deep respect. This motorcycle trip in Ukraine is perfect for anyone looking not only for an off-road adventure on a motorcycle but also for discovering one of the largest countries in Europe. You can expect changing landscapes - from the wild mountain and steppe trails of the Carpathians to historical cities marked by war. Our route takes you through national parks, authentic villages, medieval fortresses, and modern cities. You travel simultaneously in two eras: in Ukraine's medieval heritage and in the land of the recent wars in Europe. Service description - Overcross Expeditions - IMPORTANT! Prague - Start of the Peace Expedition

Prague - Start of the Peace Expedition

Our motorcycle journey to Ukraine begins in Germany. The first kilometers are still on asphalt - a calm introduction to the coming two weeks. We pass by Munich, leave the foothills of the Alps behind us, and reach Prague in the late afternoon. In this centuries-old crossroads of European cultures, we take our first accommodation. During the communal welcome dinner in a traditional inn, you will get to know the group, and an initial briefing will introduce you to the philosophy of Expedition Peace.

Krakow - Through the Gate to the East

Krakow - Through the Gate to the East

After breakfast in the old town of Prague, our motorcycle tour rolls through the expanses of Bohemia and Silesia heading south. We are still traveling on well-developed roads, but the anticipation of the off-road adventure grows with every kilometer. In the afternoon we reach Krakow, with its splendid architecture reminiscent of the Golden Age of Central Europe. We walk through the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz and take a look at Wawel Castle before a Polish dinner concludes the day.

Lviv - Border to Freedom

Lviv - Border to Freedom

Today the motorcycle journey takes a special turn: Early in the morning, we head east towards the Ukrainian border. Behind Przemysl, the landscape unfolds with wide fields and traces of the Soviet past - we leave the EU behind and dive into a Ukraine on the rise. In the afternoon we reach Lviv, a city full of history and cultural diversity. The evening takes us to the famous restaurant Kryjivka, whose interior resembles a partisan hideout.

Lviv - City of Lions and Legends

Lviv - City of Lions and Legends

Today is all about exploring Lviv. You stroll through the cobbled streets of the old town on foot, visit the Lychakiv Cemetery, and marvel at the magnificent opera house, one of the finest in Europe. Among the architectural highlights, we discover the city's unique coffee and beer culture. Thus, it becomes evident how diverse a motorcycle trip in Ukraine can be - from historical monuments to vibrant modernity. The next day, the off-road stage to the Carpathians begins.

Carpathians - Offroad to the Tustan Fortress

With the first rays of sun we leave Lviv, the road gets narrower and rougher. Soon the asphalt ends, and our motorcycle trip in the Carpathians truly begins. On steep paths, through muddy dips and across river crossings, every kilometer of this off-road tour demands full concentration on the handlebars. The destination is the rock fortress Tustan, whose ruins testify to the strategic importance of this place. We set up our first camp in the Carpathians - under the open sky, by the crackling fire.

Synewyr Lake - The Blue Eye of the Carpathians

The sixth day takes us deeper into the Carpathians. Our enduros wind their way over old forest paths, interspersed with roots and washed out by rain - the route demands a delicate touch in the terrain. In the afternoon, we reach Lake Synewyr, the blue eye of the Carpathians, nestled between steep mountain slopes. We set up our camp right by the shore, cook over an open fire, and listen to the legends of a local ranger. A day of this off-road tour that combines nature and history.

Kolotschawa - Hutsul Land and Traditions

Kolotschawa is one of the most authentic villages of the Carpathians, known for its preserved historical buildings and deep roots in the traditions of the Huzuls. Our motorcycle tour takes you to this remote region, where time seems to stand still. A guided tour through the open-air museum documents life over centuries, and at local craftsmen, you will find handcrafted souvenirs. In the evening, you enjoy a traditional Huzul meal and listen to the stories of the locals.

Swydowez - On the Roof of Ukraine

Swydowez - On the Roof of Ukraine

Today we face one of the most challenging sections of our motorcycle trip in Ukraine. We leave Kolotschawa and ride on steep, rocky trails towards the Swydowez Mountains, which are considered one of the most beautiful alpine landscapes in Eastern Europe. The enduros struggle over narrow paths, streams, and alpine meadows up to over 1,500 meters in height. The destination is the hidden Dohiazka Lake, a high-altitude body of water that rewards us with solitude and untouched nature. Here we set up a wild, authentic camp.

Worochta - Bridges between the worlds

The ninth day slowly brings us back to civilization. After a long descent from the Swydowez ridge, we roll into the charming town of Worochta on our enduros, passing picturesque valleys and small villages. Worochta is known for its impressive viaducts from the Habsburg era. In the afternoon, there is time for the local market or a hike to Howerla, the highest peak in Ukraine. In the evening, you reflect on the impressions of this motorcycle tour in a cozy mountain hut.

Kamianets-Podilskyi - Castles on the Dniester

Kamianets-Podilskyi - Castles on the Dniester

Today we dive into the medieval history of Ukraine. We explore the impressive fortresses of Kamianets-Podilskyi and Khotyn, which are among the most remarkable structures in Eastern Europe. Afterwards, our motorcycle tour takes us through the twists of the Dniester Canyon, where spectacular views await you. This stage shows how closely history and nature are intertwined in this country - a quieter but scenically defining section of the off-road expedition.

Kyiv - The city that did not fall

Kyiv - The city that did not fall

After days of intense off-road stages in the Carpathians, we reach Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Even upon entering, it becomes clear: This city lives, fights, and constantly reinvents itself. Our bikes glide along the banks of the Dnipro while the golden domes of the cathedrals shine. We focus on the historical center and visit Maidan Nezalezhnosti, where the Maidan Revolution took place. We pause briefly at the memorials for the Heavenly Hundred.

Kyiv - Cave Monastery and War Traces

On the second day in Kyiv, we dive deeper into the history of the city. We visit the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the cave monastery and UNESCO World Heritage Site, whose underground passages are filled with reverent silence. From the viewpoints, you enjoy the view over the mighty Dnipro. But Kyiv also shows its wounds: On our motorcycle trip, we explore suburbs like Svyatoshyn and Troyeshchyna, where the traces of the siege are still visible today.

Irpin & Bucha - Scars of Resistance

We visit the destroyed, but rebuilt cities of Irpin, Bucha, and Hostomel and listen to the stories of the locals. In Irpin, we drive along former front lines; the blown-up Irpin Bridge is a central symbol of resistance. In Bucha, we observe a minute of silence at the mass grave of St. Andrew's Church. In Hostomel, the destroyed cargo plane An-225 Mriya is a reminder of loss and reconstruction. This stage of our motorcycle tour reveals the harsh reality of war.

Kyiv - Conclusion in the Ukrainian Village

Our last day of the motorcycle trip in Ukraine takes us to the Ukrainian village, a traditional ethnocomplex near Kyiv. Among old wooden houses and workshops, you experience the authenticity of Ukrainian culture once again. We participate in craft demonstrations, try our hand at bread baking, and celebrate new friendships with borscht, vareniki, and live music. A communal farewell dinner under the open sky forms the emotional conclusion of this special off-road expedition.

  • Yes! Ideally, you won't need it at all. Special equipment for snake bites or similar is not necessary.
  • Better to have one and not need it than the other way around. The gas station network in Ukraine is very good, so we don't have to carry large amounts of fuel. Still, there may be situations where an 'extra liter' is useful - for example, if a vehicle should lose fuel.
  • That depends on your vehicle and its condition. As a general rule: what you have with you never breaks.
  • Our guides bring the expedition kitchen. Tasks like chopping, cooking, and washing up are done together as a group. Our guides handle shopping with a few volunteers. Your food preferences will be taken into account as much as possible - following the motto 'many hands make light work'. As a special treat, we will be accompanied by a Tunisian chef on the desert stage who will provide us with delicious meals.
