Routes run from Morocco's high passes to Cape Town at the southern tip, crossing desert pistes and dirt roads that a regular rental car never sees.</p><p>OVERCROSS runs 6 guided and self-drive 4x4 tours across the continent, from a 14-day route through South Africa to the 55-day Transafrica expedition to Cape Town. Groups run from 6 to 18 travelers. What you won't find here: short day trips, every route is a multi-day expedition of at least 14 days.</p><p>A typical day means 4 to 8 hours behind the wheel of your own or a rented 4x4, driving in a convoy with a local guide who knows the tracks, workshops and border crossings. Nights are spent in camps or at simple lodges, depending on the route.</p>

What is the best time for off-road travel in Africa? It depends on the destination: For Morocco and Tunisia, autumn, winter, and spring (September to April) are suitable - pleasantly cool and little tourism. In Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa, the dry season from May to October is ideal - clear visibility, solid ground, and mild temperatures. So you can find the perfect time for your 4x4 adventure depending on the route.
