Ecuador is a dream destination for adventure travel! Between the Amazon and the Andes, adventures await you like Galapagos island hopping, fascinating wildlife observations, and vibrant festivals.
Ecuador is the optimal destination for adventure travel, where the breathtaking diversity between the Amazon and the Andes can be explored. Start your adventure with Ovecross and discover the coast as well as the Galapagos Islands. Here you will experience unforgettable Galapagos island hopping, fascinating wildlife observations, and the impressive underwater world. Experience vibrant festivals like Inti Raymi and enjoy the culinary diversity with delicious ceviche and locro de papas. Whether Inca ruins or the impressive Cotopaxi National Park, Ecuador offers numerous unforgettable experiences.
You don't need any special riding or hiking experience for our Ecuador round trips, just basic fitness and steady footing for excursions at altitude. Highlights like the hike to the Quilotoa crater lagoon and walks through Cotopaxi National Park's paramo grasslands take you well above sea level, so anyone used to thin mountain air has an edge, though a relaxed pace works fine for motivated first-timers too.
You don't need your own vehicle either. You travel together with a small group of up to 14 people and a local, English-speaking guide in a shared vehicle, and on the Galapagos leg you switch comfortably between islands by speedboat. That leaves your head free for volcanoes, markets and wildlife instead of traffic and navigation.
A typical day starts with breakfast at the hotel. Guided excursions follow, to ruins, markets, national parks or islands, with hikes in between and, on Galapagos, snorkeling stops in open water. Nights are spent in mid-range or 3- to 4-star hotels before the next stage of the round trip begins the following morning.
No previous experience needed: just basic fitness and steady footing for excursions at altitude, such as the hike to the Quilotoa crater lagoon or walks through Cotopaxi's paramo grasslands.
Not required. You travel with the group in a shared vehicle alongside a local, English-speaking guide, and switch between Galapagos islands by speedboat instead of driving yourself.
No fixed daily distance: each stage is built around that day's excursions on foot, by boat or by vehicle, not a set driving distance.
Breakfast at the hotel, then guided excursions to volcanoes, markets, ruins or islands, hikes and, on Galapagos, snorkeling stops, before overnight in a mid-range or 3- to 4-star hotel.
June to September brings the driest, clearest weather to Ecuador's highlands and coast. On Galapagos, December to May means calm, warm seas, while June to November brings more wildlife activity. The Amazon lowlands stay warm and humid all year. For the full seasonal picture, see our Ecuador travel information page.
