Namibia's motorcycle tours run from smooth gravel highways to some of the toughest enduro terrain in Africa. Riders with solid touring experience take on the 13-day Windhoek to Cape Town crossing or the 14-day Namibia and Botswana loop, both mixing tarmac with gravel. Want more dirt without an expert ticket? The 14-day Namibia Enduro tour rides mostly gravel and piste and welcomes ambitious riders with some off-road experience. The 11-day Damaraland tour steps up the off-road share, and the 12-day Kaokoland tour is reserved for expert riders ready for rocky passes and deep riverbeds.
You always ride a rental motorcycle in Namibia; bringing your own isn't an option given the distance to get here. Depending on the tour you get a rugged 650cc single such as a BMW, KTM, Suzuki or Honda XR, sometimes a choice of Honda XR650R or KTM LC4, with a backup motorcycle and mechanic travelling with every group.
A typical day starts with the guide's briefing and a hand-over from the support vehicle, then hours on gravel, sand or rock while your luggage rides in the 4x4. On the Namibia and Botswana loop, stages run from around 140 km up to 500 km in a single day. Evenings bring a lodge, guesthouse or apartment some nights and a tent under the stars on others, with the Kaokoland tour camping every night in Namibia's remote north.
Experience required
The Windhoek to Cape Town crossing, the Namibia Enduro tour and the Namibia and Botswana loop suit riders with solid touring experience on loose surfaces. Damaraland and Kaokoland demand expert-level skill: confident standing, braking on gravel and sand, and comfort on technical passes.
Own bike allowed
No: every Namibia tour is ridden on a rental motorcycle, typically a 650cc single such as a BMW, KTM, Suzuki or Honda XR, with a backup bike and mechanic support included on the road.

What's included in the price of a Namibia motorcycle tour?
Every tour includes your rental motorcycle, a support vehicle for luggage and a backup bike in case of trouble, plus accommodation and meals as listed in the itinerary. Most tours also include a local guide and mechanic support on the road. Flights, fuel and the deposit on the rental bike are extra on every tour.
Do I need my own motorcycle or can I rent one?

What deposit do I need to leave on the rental motorcycle?
