Our Peru motorcycle tours range from the beginner-friendly, 14-day Andes, Inca & Machu Picchu trip through Arequipa and Cusco to the more demanding, 16-day Trans Andes tour between La Paz and Arequipa, which climbs over mountain passes above 4,500 metres for most of its route. A third option, the 17-day 7 Wonders tour from Arequipa, adds an Amazon jungle lodge stay to the classic Andes route.
The roads are mostly paved, with gravel stretches once you climb into the high Andes. You don't need off-road experience, but you should be ready for tight switchbacks, big altitude and thin air, sometimes above Lake Titicaca's 3,800 metres or at Machu Picchu's 2,430 metres. Riders who already feel confident on winding mountain roads will do well on any of our Peru tours; for the Trans Andes route, with its long daily stages, a bit more riding experience helps. You don't bring your own motorcycle: every tour uses a locally supplied rental bike, a CFmoto 450MT or Honda NX500.
A typical day starts with a briefing on the stage ahead, including the GPS track, then several hours in the saddle through the Andes, with stops built in to help you adjust to the altitude. Evenings bring comfortable hotels along the route, in towns like Cusco or Arequipa, always with a support vehicle carrying your luggage and a multilingual guide riding with the group.
Experience required
Comfortable on winding mountain roads is enough for our beginner-friendly 14-day Andes, Inca & Machu Picchu tour and the 17-day 7 Wonders tour. The 16-day Trans Andes tour, with passes above 4,500 metres and some gravel, calls for a bit more riding experience.
Own bike allowed
No, every Peru tour uses a rental bike supplied locally, a CFmoto 450MT or Honda NX500 depending on availability. Bringing your own motorcycle to South America isn't part of these tours.
Daily distance
Daily distances vary by tour and stage, from shorter climbs in the high Andes to longer rides across open highland roads; exact stage lengths depend on which of our three Peru tours you choose.
Typical day
Each day opens with a stage briefing and GPS track, then several hours of riding through the Andes with stops to help you adjust to the altitude. Evenings bring hotels along the route, such as in Cusco or Arequipa, with a support vehicle for your luggage and a multilingual guide.
Best time to ride
Peru can be ridden most of the year, but the Andes keep their own calendar. May to September is the best window around Cusco, Machu Picchu and the high passes, when the roads are dry and clear. What's included in the price of a Peru motorcycle tour?
Every OVERCROSS Peru tour includes your rental motorcycle, a multilingual tour guide, a support vehicle for your luggage, hotel stays with breakfast along the route and the guided entrance to Machu Picchu. Flights to Peru and international health insurance are not included.
How much does a Peru motorcycle tour cost?
Prices start at €5,100 for the 14-day Andes, Inca & Machu Picchu tour, €6,250 for the 16-day Trans Andes tour between La Paz and Arequipa, and €6,420 for the 17-day 7 Wonders tour from Arequipa. All three include the rental bike, guide, support vehicle and the accommodation listed in the tour description.
Do I need to bring my own motorcycle?
No, every Peru tour includes a rental motorcycle, a CFmoto 450MT or Honda NX500 depending on availability and tour. Bringing your own bike to South America isn't part of these trips; you simply pick it up locally and ride it home again at the end.
How big is the group and can I book alone?
Group sizes vary by tour: the Trans Andes tour runs with 6 to 12 riders, the Andes, Inca & Machu Picchu tour with 4 to 10, and the 7 Wonders tour welcomes solo travellers too, from 1 to 10 riders. A support vehicle and guide travel with every group regardless of size.
What about a single room or the motorcycle deposit?
A single room supplement applies for solo travellers on our Trans Andes tour, currently €700. If you add our optional motorcycle insurance, the security deposit is US$700; without it, the deposit rises to US$2,500. This applies across all three of our Peru tours.
What riding gear should I bring?
Bring your own riding jacket, trousers, boots and gloves, ideally a set you already know is comfortable, since temperatures swing widely between the coast, the desert and the high Andes. If you need to rent a helmet or other gear, tell us when you book and we'll arrange it locally.
How does booking work and what happens next?
After your enquiry we send you a personal offer, including the travel protection certificate required under German Civil Code §651r. The booking becomes binding once you confirm it; after that you'll receive the tour dossier, packing list and all further details for your Peru trip.
