MOTORCYCLE-TRIPS · PERU
This guided motorcycle trip through Peru is the classic for anyone who wants to connect the Andes, coast, and Inca culture on two wheels. We will travel about 2,000 kilometers from Lima through Nasca, Arequipa, and Lake Titicaca to Cusco and Machu Picchu.
The Journey
This motorcycle trip in Peru focuses equally on riding pleasure, nature, and culture. Starting from Lima, we roll along the Pacific coast on the Panamericana southward, climb up to the Andes highlands, and reach classics like the Nazca Lines, the white city of Arequipa, Lake Titicaca with the Uros Islands, the Inca capital Cusco, and of course Machu Picchu. The trip is intended for experienced motorcyclists; off-road experience is not necessary. Look forward to around 2,000 kilometers of true South America, on the agile Yamaha Ténéré 700.
Welcome to Peru! After arriving at Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima, our transfer will take you to the hotel in the Miraflores district. The rest of the day is yours to rest and acclimatize.
To kick things off, we explore Lima, the metropolis of millions and city of kings. On a city tour, we see the viewpoint of San Cristóbal, the Plaza de Armas, and the Presidential Palace in the UNESCO center. (Entrances on site.)
The first major stage rolls south along the Pan-American highway. Passing the Pacific coast and the desert oasis Huacachina near Ica, we reach the city of Nasca after approximately 450 kilometers.
In the morning, you optionally take off in a small plane and view the famous Nasca lines from above. Afterwards, we roll about 165 kilometers further to the idyllic bay of Puerto Inka. (Flight on site.)
A long stage of about 400 kilometers leads up to Arequipa, Peru's second largest city. Its nickname "white city" comes from the Sillar, a light volcanic rock from which many buildings are made.
Today we explore Arequipa and visit the Santa Catalina Monastery from the 16th century, a small town within the city with its own alleys and baroque architecture. The afternoon is free for you.
About 310 kilometers up into the highlands to Puno on Lake Titicaca. At over 4,000 meters, the picture-book Peru reveals itself with herds of vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas by the roadside.
By boat, we go to the floating reed islands of the Uros, built once for protection against attackers. Afterwards, we visit the island of Taquile in the deep blue Lake Titicaca. (Boat tour on site.)
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
About 386 kilometers take us to Cusco, the former Inca capital and the "navel of the world." The city at 3,326 meters is one of the most visited destinations in South America.
Off to Machu Picchu! First by bus to Ollantaytambo, then by train to Aguas Calientes, a total of about 180 kilometers. Here we will spend the night, very close to the wonder of the world.
Early in the morning, we are among the first to take the bus up to Machu Picchu. The Incas built the citadel in the 15th century at 2,360 meters between green peaks. (Admission on-site.)
By motorcycle, we go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the impressive salt terraces of Maras. A good lunch in the lively market town of Pisac rounds off the day.
The day in Cusco belongs to you. Browse through museums and churches or enjoy the hustle and bustle at the plaza with a coffee, just as you like.
To conclude, a relaxed day trip to the southern valley of Cusco. We visit the Inca terraces of Tipón and the splendidly painted colonial church of Andahuaylillas, often referred to as the "Sistine Chapel of the Andes."
Transfer to the airport and return flight via Lima to the homeland. Until next time, Peru!
