Our off-road training in Germany spans a wide range: the one-day 4x4 Offroad Basic Training in Sinsheim suits complete beginners with no terrain experience, while the two-day Repair Workshop in Wurmberg assumes technical understanding and builds on the Screwdriver Course. Between the two sits the Offroad Day Tour in the Kraichgau hills, where you drive your own vehicle through forest tracks, mud sections and trial passages, needing good fitness more than experience.
For the Basic Training you can bring your own four-wheel-drive vehicle or add a rental off-roader on site; the Kraichgau Day Tour requires your own registered vehicle, from SUV to off-roader to Unimog. The Screwdriver Course and Repair Workshop both run in a Land Rover workshop in Wurmberg, centred on the Land Rover Defender but open to drivers of Toyota Land Cruiser, Jeep or Iveco; for the Repair Workshop you also bring your own tools.
Training hours count more than daily distances: one day for the Basic Training, a weekend for the workshop courses. A day opens with theory and a vehicle check, then several practice sessions in the terrain or on the workshop ramp. The Basic Training runs one hour of theory and five practice units on an exclusive area; the Kraichgau Day Tour moves in convoy through forest, meadow and mud sections. On the two-day Wurmberg courses you sleep at a nearby guesthouse or in your own car or roof tent at the campsite, meals included, guided by experienced off-road trainers or a car mechatronics technician.
Experience required
The Basic Training suits complete beginners with no terrain experience; the Kraichgau Day Tour also needs no prior off-road skills but does call for good physical fitness. The Screwdriver Course welcomes technically curious beginners, while the Repair Workshop builds directly on it and expects some workshop experience.
Own bike allowed
Yes, depending on the course: for the Basic Training you can bring your own four-wheel-drive vehicle or add a rental off-roader on site; the Kraichgau Day Tour requires your own registered vehicle, from SUV to off-roader to Unimog. For the Repair Workshop you bring your own 4x4 and your own tools; the workshop courses centre on the Land Rover Defender.
Daily distance
These are training courses, not distance tours: the Basic Training runs five practice units rather than counting kilometres, and the workshop courses in Wurmberg are full-day sessions at the ramp. On the Kraichgau Day Tour it is the terrain, not the clock, that decides the route through forest, meadow and mud.
Typical day
Training days open with a briefing, theory and a vehicle check, followed by several hours of practice in the terrain or workshop. On the two-day Wurmberg courses you stay overnight at a guesthouse or in your own car or roof tent at the campsite, with meals such as a barbecue evening included; the Basic Training and Day Tour are single-day courses with no overnight stay.
Best time to ride
The Screwdriver Course and Repair Workshop run year-round in the Wurmberg workshop, rain or shine. The Basic Training and the Kraichgau Day Tour depend on the weather and ride best from spring to autumn. In the Alps to the south the season runs roughly May to September; the rest of Germany rides well from March to October.

What is included in the price of an off-road course in Germany?
Course prices include instruction by qualified off-road trainers or a car mechatronics technician, plus use of the training ground or workshop. Catering differs by course: the Screwdriver Course includes breakfast, lunch and a barbecue evening, the Repair Workshop includes dinner and breakfast, while the Basic Training and Day Tour do not include meals.
Do I need my own vehicle or can I rent one?
It depends on the course. For the 4x4 Offroad Basic Training you can arrive in your own four-wheel-drive vehicle or add a rental off-roader for a surcharge. The Kraichgau Day Tour and the Repair Workshop require your own registered 4x4 vehicle; for the Repair Workshop you also bring your own tools.
How big are the training groups?
Groups stay deliberately small: five to eight participants on the Basic Training, four to six on the Screwdriver Course and Repair Workshop, and six to ten vehicles on the Kraichgau Day Tour, leaving enough time for individual coaching from the trainers.

How does booking work?
After booking you receive all details on meeting point, schedule and required gear. For the Kraichgau Day Tour, book at least two weeks before the start date. Courses run with our experienced partners: the MARKOM off-road driving school in Sinsheim and our workshop partner in Wurmberg.
What else should I plan for?
Bring your own transport to the venue, sturdy shoes and weatherproof clothing. Depending on the course, extras can include catering for the Basic Training and Day Tour, a rental off-roader, or a passenger seat add-on. For the Repair Workshop you will also need your own tools.
