Adventure South Africa: From Victoria Falls to Cape Town: Camping or Lodge Safari

This morning there is an opportunity to participate in the many optional activities offered in the town of Victoria Falls. After lunch, we begin our adventurous African journey and drive the short distance to the border into Botswana, which we will cross. In the late afternoon we reach our accommodation to set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River. The Chobe National Park is one of the most popular safari destinations in Botswana, in addition to its diverse landscapes and its long-standing reputation for its elephant population, the park is home to Africa's Big Five. We will be separated from the Overland truck for the next two nights, so it is important to pack personal items needed for the next two days/nights together. Please only take the essentials. We continue our journey through southern Africa. We reach the Khwai Reserve, one of Botswana's most renowned reserves. It lies in the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world, home to a diverse range of wildlife and landscapes. The Khwai Reserve is managed by the local community, which engages in community-based tourism, a form of sustainable tourism from which community members directly benefit. Our guide will explain what to expect here. In the afternoon, there will be an excursion into the Okavango Delta. (the excursion may be postponed to the next morning). We will set off early today with our 4x4 vehicles and head toward Maun. Maun is world-famous as the gateway to the Okavango Delta, but that lies behind us now. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

After breakfast, our African journey heads toward the next safari highlight as we reach the gates of Etosha National Park. Etosha, at 18,000 km², is one of the largest national parks in southern Africa. It is famous for its large salt pan, known as the Etosha Pan. Here, many animals await us at the waterhole. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

On our 3rd day in Etosha with its breathtaking and fascinating landscape, a highlight of this Africa group journey awaits us. After sunrise and a delicious breakfast, we embark on a full-day safari through the park. The longer a game drive lasts, the more one can see and experience. Always keep an eye out for animals that roam the endless expanses of the Etosha Pan. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Full-day safari in Etosha National Park.

After sunrise, we temporarily leave the expanses of Namibia's desert behind and meet the monstrous cold waves of the Atlantic Ocean, on the Namibian coast. We make a stop at the Lichen colonies, where we can witness a natural curiosity. Lichens are algae and fungi that have a symbiotic relationship. Due to their hardiness, they are incredibly adaptable, allowing them to survive for long periods in these climatic conditions. Unique photographs will abound here. Before reaching the picturesque Swakopmund, we stop in the holiday town of Wlotskasbaken, where a fantastic photo spot with the Atlantic Ocean awaits. With all these unforgettable memories in our travel luggage, we now arrive at the colonial coastal town of Swakopmund. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. With the charm of Swakopmund and the waves of the ocean behind us, our African group journey continues. We cross the Tropic of Capricorn and then head back inland. The Sesriem Canyon is a gorge formed millions of years ago by a river. In the afternoon, we have the privilege of exploring the desert with a local guide. We will receive extensive information about the natural phenomena of the Namib Desert. It is worth going to bed early as the next morning a highlight of this adventure awaits. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Guided desert walk with local guide, Tropic of Capricorn.

Today is a free day for relaxation. We find ourselves in not only Namibia's third largest national park but also in one of the largest protected areas in the world with an area of nearly 50,000 km². There are opportunities for self-guided walks where antelope, springbok, ostrich, and jackals may be spotted. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Our stunning and unforgettable adventure group journey, full of experiences from safari, nature, and culture is coming to an end. Today we drive to the edge of the Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world and the largest canyon on the African continent. Here we take a walk that offers unique and fascinating views into the canyon. Of course, great photo spots will present themselves here. We continue to the Orange River in the border region to South Africa. On the banks of the largest river in South Africa, which also flows through parts of Namibia, we will spend our last night on Namibian soil. In the afternoon, there is an optional opportunity to go canoeing on the river. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Visit to the Fish River Canyon. The last day of this breathtaking and unforgettable adventure trip as a group dawns. The Cederberg region offers not only spectacular mountains and orange farms but is also home to the rooibos plant. This herb drink, native to the mountain slopes of the Cedar Mountains, has gained an international reputation as a healthy and refreshing alternative to regular tea. The Cederberg region is known for its mountain fynbos and spectacular views of the rugged Cedarberg Mountains. With our travel luggage full of dreamlike memories that one will never forget in their lifetime, we head towards the destination of our African journey. We approach Cape Town and see the magnificent Table Mountain arise in the distance. We stop to view it from the other side of Table Bay. The tour ends with our arrival in downtown Cape Town. The bustling, vibrant metropolis of Cape Town offers countless experiences that make extending your stay highly recommended. The V&A Waterfront with its numerous shops and restaurants invites you to linger. Here you will also find dozens of activities that Cape Town has to offer. For example, you can take a boat to Robben Island from here. It is an offshore island in Table Bay, where the prison stands where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years. Additionally, the downtown area offers many experiences, including African markets of all kinds. No visit to Cape Town is complete without a drive or a hike up the world-famous Table Mountain, which provides a wonderful and unique view of Cape Town and Table Bay. Wine lovers will particularly enjoy Cape Town and its nearby surroundings. Meals: Breakfast.
