In the 4x4 overland truck, you leave the city behind and drive about 400 kilometers to Eswatini, to the Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary, the oldest nature reserve in the country, where you will stay for two nights. The second day of your South Africa Mozambique tour belongs to the Milwane Wildlife Sanctuary. After breakfast, you will explore a network of nine hiking trails of varying difficulty with a guide. You are leaving Eswatini and crossing the border into Mozambique, a former Portuguese colony. In the afternoon you will reach Xai Xai, known for its white beaches on the Indian Ocean and colonial heritage. During a walk along one of the Mozambique beaches, you will get a first glimpse of local life and greet the ocean. Included meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
After a hearty breakfast, your Overland Safari Mozambique continues northwards. The route reaches the coastal town of Vilanculos at the Bay of Vilanculos, part of the Indian Ocean. White sandy beaches, palm-fringed coasts, and clear turquoise waters characterize the place. From here, the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago can be explored for snorkeling, diving, or fishing. After breakfast, you board a traditional dhow and sail to Magaruque Island. While snorkeling at Magaruque Island, you spend the day in the clear waters, at the reefs and beaches of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Today, safari and beach Mozambique are in balance: It goes to the palm-fringed beaches of the Inhambane district for two days of relaxation by the sea. Along the coast, you drive south, passing villages as well as plantations of coconut palms, cashew, and sugar cane. Today is all about pure safari. Early in the morning you start in the national park and spend the whole day on the prowl. The Kruger National Park is home to the Big Five: lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and rhinoceroses. The journey is coming to an end. After a relaxed breakfast, your Blyde River Canyon Tour begins along South Africa's Panorama Route. The escarpment separates the central plateau from the lower bushland of Kruger and offers wide views. After the last breakfast, your South Africa Mozambique tour ends. Today you drive back to Johannesburg, where you arrive in the late afternoon.
