South Africa is the heart of this Garden Route Safari: Over six days, you will travel in an overland truck from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town through national parks, coastal towns, the Little Karoo, and the Cape Winelands.
Your Garden Route Safari South Africa begins with a highlight: Addo Elephant National Park. On a half-day game drive in the overland truck, you will explore the third largest national park in the country, which is home to a large elephant population as well as the Big Five. Together, you will search for wildlife in the vast vegetation of Addo and dedicate your first day to the elephants after which the park is named. On the second day of your South Africa Garden Route tour, after breakfast, you will continue to the surfer's paradise of Jeffreys Bay on the Indian Ocean, known for its perfect waves. Here, you will visit the small surf museum, jump into the water, or enjoy a coffee with a view of the legendary waves. The Garden Route is characterised by white beaches, dense forests, and hiking trails with many optional activities. In the afternoon, you will travel on to the Tsitsikamma region.
Today, you can look forward to a natural highlight of this South Africa experience tour: Tsitsikamma National Park, a significant marine protected area. Along the Waterfall Trail, you will hike the first section of the world-famous Otter Trail; for those who prefer a more leisurely pace, you can stroll along the boardwalks to the mouth of the Storms River. Optionally, you can book the Woodcutters Journey or dare to take the 216-metre bungee jump from the Bloukrans Bridge - the highest commercial bungee jump in the world.

After breakfast, your Garden Route small group tour continues inland. Before leaving the coast, you will stop in picturesque Knysna with its shopping street and famous lagoon. Then, you will cross the Outeniqua Mountains in the overland truck and descend into Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the Little Karoo. There, you will take a tour of the Cango Caves, one of the largest limestone caves in the world with its stunning formations. Included: Cango Caves basic tour.
On this Garden Route safari tour, you will leave the semi-arid Little Karoo with its unique landscape today. As a farewell, you will observe the curious meerkats starting their day. Then, you will follow Route 62 through the Western Cape province and stop at a farm where you can buy local products and souvenirs directly from the producer. A quirky highlight is Ronnie's Sex Shop - not a sex shop, but a country pub with beer and snacks. Included: stop at Ronnie's Sex Shop.
The last day of your South Africa group safari takes you along the Cape Whale Coast with its picturesque villages, bays, and valleys. From the whale town of Hermanus, you will travel in the overland truck past Cape Agulhas - where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet - to vibrant Cape Town. A stop at Stony Point Nature Reserve will show you the largest breeding colony of African penguins. From July to November, you also have the chance to observe southern right whales in the bay of Hermanus.
