MOTORCYCLE-TRIPS · PERU
This motorcycle tour through Peru takes you on a grand round trip through the most beautiful regions of the country in 17 days: coastal desert, Andean highlands, Sacred Valley of the Incas, Amazon jungle, Lake Titicaca, and Colca Canyon.
The Journey
This motorcycle tour through Peru starts from the beautiful colonial city of Arequipa as a grand loop through the best that the country has to offer. The Pan-American Highway takes us along the Pacific coast before we ascend into the Andes to visit the great Inca sites. The Amazon jungle awaits just like Lake Titicaca and the Colca Canyon with its condors. On the CFmoto 450MT or the Honda NX500, we experience around 2,700 kilometers of riding enjoyment on predominantly well-paved surfaces.
Welcome to Peru! After your arrival in Arequipa, the vibrant colonial city in the south of the country, we will pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel. During the briefing, your guide will discuss the route, the formalities, and the deposit for the motorcycle. The rest of the day is yours.
Elevation: 2,300 m
Finally, it’s starting! Getting out of the city is the first challenge. After about 50 km, we reach the Pan-American Highway and follow it northwards. After 140 km, we are at sea level on the Pacific coast and drive to Puerto Inka – a dreamy hotel right next to Inca ruins, which your guide will show you in the evening.
Distance: 410 km | Road: Asphalt | Altitude: 2,300 m → Sea level
We follow the Panamericana through one of the driest deserts in the world to Nasca, world-famous for its geoglyphs that can only be recognized from the air. In the afternoon, you have the opportunity to take a flight of about half an hour over the Pampa. The flight is optional and not included in the travel price – you can book it on-site with us.
Route: 180 km | Road: Asphalt | Elevation: Sea level → 500 m
Continue through the bone-dry desert to the most beautiful oasis in America: Huacachina. Palm trees, a lagoon, surrounded by huge sand dunes. In the afternoon, dune buggy rides and sandboarding are on the agenda.
Distance: 150 km | Road: Asphalt | Elevation: 500 m → 400 m
Back to the coast to the small fishing town of Paracas. Here a boat trip to the Ballestas Islands is on the agenda – the "Galapagos of the little man." The boat trip is included in the travel price. After that, we will explore the Paracas National Park by motorcycle.
Distance: 75 km | Road: Asphalt + well-maintained gravel paths in the national park | Elevation: 400 m → sea level
A long, spectacular driving day: We leave the desert and ascend into the mighty Andes. Soon we are at serious heights on well-developed winding roads. We end the day in Ayacucho.
Route: 360 km | Road: Asphalt | Altitude: Sea level → 2,800 m
A long drive through the heart of the Andes – mostly asphalted, but with possible gravel sections. High mountains and deep gorges accompany us. That's motorcycle riding!
Route: 235 km | Road: Mostly asphalt | Altitude: 2,800 m → 2,400 m
The road is not a mile long and straight. We cross the Andes again on winding roads and drive over Urubamba into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The day ends in Ollantaytambo, known for its mighty Inca fortress.
Distance: 340 km | Road: Asphalt | Altitude: 2,400 m → 2,800 m
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
The absolute highlight of the tour: Machu Picchu. There is still no road to this magical place. Early in the morning, we take the train to Aguas Calientes and from there by bus to the entrance of the citadel. Train and bus tickets as well as entrance fees are included in the travel price. After the visit, we return by train to Ollantaytambo.
Height: 2,430 m
From Ollantaytambo we travel through the Sacred Valley of the Incas and visit various Inca ruins. We finish the day in the ancient capital of the Inca Empire: Cusco, the navel of the world.
Distance: 80 km | Road: Mostly asphalt, possible gravel | Elevation: 2,800 m → 3,500 m
We leave the motorcycles in Cusco and fly to Puerto Maldonado. Our lodge team takes us to the river docks, from where a boat leads us deep into the Amazon jungle. We will stay in the lodge for two nights – all meals and excursions included. With a bit of luck, you might see a jaguar!
Domestic flight to Puerto Maldonado (included in the price) | Altitude: 3,500 m → 200 m
We leave the lodge early for the return flight to Cusco. The rest of the day is free for exploration – ideal for exploring markets, restaurants, and colonial squares.
Height: 200 m → 3,500 m
Back on the motorcycles! A magnificent ride over the Altiplano to the city on the shores of Lake Titicaca: Puno. We pass through Sicuani and Juliaca – the latter an unforgettable experience with chaotic traffic.
Route: 390 km | Road: Asphalt | Altitude: 3,500 m → 3,800 m
Early morning boat trip on Lake Titicaca to the world-famous Floating Islands of the Uros - included in the price of the trip. Back on the motorcycles, we cross the Andes again towards Colca Canyon, over the Patapampa Pass at 4,910 meters, the highest point of the journey. We spend the night near Chivay, where thermal springs await.
Distance: 315 km | Road: Asphalt | Altitude: 3,800 m → 4,910 m → 3,600 m
Early departure – the condors do not wait. After about an hour we reach Cruz del Condor in the heart of the Colca Canyon and observe Andean condors in free flight. The entrance to the Colca Canyon is included. After that we drive back to Arequipa and complete the great loop.
Distance: 260 km | Road: Asphalt | Elevation: 3,600 m → 2,300 m
Today we are taking you to the airport for your flight home. Safe travels – and see you next time on the road!
