Day 1 & 2: Phnom Penh, arrival and city tour

Day 1 & 2: Phnom Penh, arrival and city tour

Your motorcycle tour through Cambodia begins in Phnom Penh, where our multilingual tour guide welcomes you and explains the key details about the bikes, routes and safe riding. On the second day, you get to know your bike and the local traffic on a city tour. You visit the Tuol Sleng Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek, followed by Wat Phnom. In the evening, you unwind at a café by the Mekong. Distance: approx. 30 km.

Phnom Penh → Kratie

Early in the morning, you cross the Mekong by ferry and leave the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh behind. The first real stage of your motorcycle tour through Cambodia begins on narrow tracks along the river. You stop for lunch in Kampong Cham, then ride through small villages and past the gardens of local residents. After another river crossing, you reach Kratie on the banks of the Mekong. Distance: approx. 225 km.

Kratie → Sen Monorom

Kratie → Sen Monorom

Today, the off-road motorcycle tour takes you into the jungle: your destination is Sen Monorom, the capital of Mondulkiri province. The group decides on the exact route together, but you are guaranteed an adventurous ride through the provinces of Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri. First, you follow the renewed NH7 towards Snuol, then ride eastwards along the Vietnamese border. Distance: approx. 225 km.

Jungle, off-road to Bang Lung

Jungle, off-road to Bang Lung

One of the most adventurous days: at sunrise, you set off north. The first 100 km are on rough gravel tracks, followed by a network of sandy, muddy and narrow jungle trails. As the support vehicle cannot get through here, you carry tools and spare parts yourself. Finally, you cross the Srepok River on a simple ferry and reach Bang Lung. This stage of the motorcycle tour is demanding but rewarding. Distance: approx. 225 km.

Today you can relax or head out exploring. For unwinding, the Yeak Laom, an almost perfectly round crater lake in the heart of the jungle, is ideal. Alternatively, your multilingual tour guide offers an optional motorcycle tour on small tracks, passing villages and plantations, with a detour into Virachey National Park and its untouched nature. Distance: approx. 75 km.

You set off early into the mountains towards Stung Treng. If the water level is low, you ride to Siem Pang and cross the Tonle Kong up to the border with Laos. If the water is too high, you take the newly asphalted Route 78. This route was once part of the Ho Chi Minh Trail and saw heavy fighting during the Vietnam War. In Stung Treng, you will feel the unique atmosphere of this motorcycle tour stop. Distance: approx. 210 km.

Today you cross the Mekong again and follow remote tracks upstream. You pass sand caves, rice fields and dense forests, and with a bit of luck, you might spot river dolphins. On lonely gravel roads, you ride through military areas and experience rural Cambodia up close from your motorcycle. After a stop in Choam Ksant, you reach Sra'Em in the evening. Distance: approx. 200 km.

A cultural highlight: you set off early for the Preah Vihear temple complex, which sits spectacularly on a hill at the Thai border. Away from the crowds, you enjoy the peace and the view across the lowlands. After lunch in Sra'Em, the off-road motorcycle tour takes you along tracks through rice fields and forest southwards to the forgotten temple city of Koh Ker. Distance: approx. 180 km.

Koh Ker → Siem Reap

In the morning, you explore the ruined city of Koh Ker, once the capital of the Khmer Empire, whose temples are hidden in the forest. You then continue your motorcycle tour westwards, on small roads through villages, rice fields and pristine landscapes. After a lunch break, you reach Siem Reap in the afternoon, the gateway to Angkor Wat. Distance: approx. 185 km.

If you wish, you can experience sunrise over Angkor. The afternoon in Siem Reap is yours to spend as you like.

Siem Reap → Battambang

Siem Reap → Battambang

You ride from Siem Reap to Battambang on a varied route. Instead of the busy National Road 6, you take quiet gravel tracks and experience rural Cambodia on your guided motorcycle tour. Battambang, the country's second largest city, is known for its French colonial architecture along the Sangker River. Depending on your arrival time, you may still take a ride on the famous bamboo train.

Battambang, Cardamom Mountains

Battambang, Cardamom Mountains

Today, your guided motorcycle tour takes you through the Cardamom Mountains, a challenging and scenic stage in western Cambodia. From the plains, the route leads onto ever narrower, bumpier tracks through dense rainforest. This region was once a refuge for the Khmer Rouge and shows you the country at its most original. In the evening, you reach the village of Veal Veng with views of the jungle.

Veal Veng → Koh Kong

The motorcycle journey continues on slippery red clay and through dense forest, especially demanding after rain. You take your time to navigate the tracks safely. After a lunch break, you reach the new tarmac road towards Koh Kong. If time allows, you can cool off in the sea along the way. Koh Kong is beautifully situated on the Gulf of Thailand, perfect for relaxing after a long stage.

Koh Kong → Sre Ambel

You leave the coast of Koh Kong behind, but the adventure continues. On the off-road motorcycle tour, winding coastal roads alternate with narrow jungle trails. The route takes you through dense forests, past waterfalls and along the Gulf of Thailand on the edge of Botum Sakor National Park. Your destination is the remote village of Sre Ambel, set among mangrove forests.

Sre Ambel → Kep National Park

Your motorcycle tour continues along Cambodia's southern coast. You follow the scenic National Road 3 with sea views and take a break in Kampot at lunchtime. In the afternoon, you reach Kep, a laid-back place with French flair and access to the national park. Kep is famous for its fresh crab market.

Kep, rest day by the sea

Today is a free day in Kep for you to spend exactly as you wish. You can relax by the sea, explore Kep National Park or join your multilingual tour guide for an excursion to the charming town of Kampot. After the intense off-road stages, this rest day on the motorcycle tour is ideal for recharging your batteries for the final days.

Kep → Takeo

Today, the tour takes you through the flat, green landscape of southern Cambodia. You ride along small roads through endless rice fields. In Takeo, you park your motorcycle and board a boat: you glide through the wetlands along narrow waterways to the Angkor Borei temple complex, which is only accessible by water. In the evening, you return to Takeo.

Takeo → Phnom Penh return

On the penultimate riding day of the motorcycle tour, you start at a relaxed pace. You ride along small, narrow tracks through the flat southern Cambodian landscape, with rice fields on either side. As you get closer to Phnom Penh, the traffic becomes denser, so the group stays close together. In the afternoon, you reach the hotel and return your motorcycle. The evening by the Mekong is yours to enjoy.

Phnom Penh, departure

Depending on your flight time, you may have time to explore Phnom Penh on your own or simply relax. Your multilingual tour guide will be happy to offer tips. Afterwards, you are transferred to the airport. Your guided motorcycle tour through Cambodia ends, leaving you with lasting impressions of the Mekong, the jungle and the temples.
