Your Rovos Rail luxury train journey in South Africa begins at the private station Capital Park in Pretoria. Onboard the Pride of Africa, you roll southwards past Johannesburg through the gold fields of the Witwatersrand – one of the richest gold deposits in the world. During afternoon tea in the observation car, the vast plains of the Highveld pass by. In the evening, a multi-course dinner awaits you in the elegant dining car before you spend your first night in your cabin onboard.
On the second day of your luxury train journey from Pretoria to Cape Town, the train reaches Kimberley, the capital of the Northern Cape province and center of diamond mining. You visit the Big Hole, once the largest man-made mine, and the adjacent mining and diamond museum. Afterwards, the journey continues via De Aar towards Matjiesfontein. Lunch and dinner are served in the dining car, and afternoon tea in the lounge and observation car.

After breakfast, a visit to the historic village of Matjiesfontein in the Little Karoo is on the agenda – known for its Victorian architecture and the train museum. After that, the final stage begins: The Cape Town Winelands train journey takes you through the mountain ranges and vineyards of the Cape to Cape Town.
