The Journey

Experience the island differently

This tour begins in Antananarivo and lets you discover the diverse regions of Madagascar. A trip to the east to the Analamazaotra reserve is initially undertaken, where the largest lemur in the world is native. Afterwards, the journey continues to the western part of the island with a detour to the Bemaraha National Park, where the fascinating Tsingys can be found. Following this, there is a stop at the famous Avenue of the Baobabs. The drive continues south on National Road No. 7 through the vast highlands with its green rice terraces and various workshops, past the national parks of Ranomafana and Ranohira, where a variety of endemic lemurs and plants are native. Finally, the dreamlike beaches of Ifaty offer you relaxation, inviting you to dive and snorkel as well.

After your arrival in Antananarivo at Ivato International Airport (TNR), you will be welcomed by our team and taken to your hotel.

Travel Day 2: Antananarivo - Andasibe & Discovery of the Reptiles

Travel Day 2: Antananarivo - Andasibe & Discovery of the Reptiles

After breakfast, you will drive to Andasibe via National Road N°2 in the east of Madagascar. We make a stop in Marozevo and visit a reptile farm where you can observe colorful chameleons, unique snakes, and geckos that are only found here up close. Then we head to the village of Andasibe, where you can see the largest lemur in the world, the Indri, in the Analamazaotra reserve, which consists of two parks. At dusk, we will take a short walk and have the nocturnal lemurs shown to us.

This day is dedicated entirely to the discovery of lemurs and other animals in the Analamazaotra reserve. We will undertake a three-hour hike in the rainforest. The mountain range at an altitude of 900 - 1200 meters has special advantages: tropical east coast vegetation, humid mountain cloud forests, and especially various species of lemurs. However, the Indri will be the star of the day, before we visit Lemur Island in the afternoon.

After breakfast, you will drive to Antsirabe, which is also called the water city and is known for its thermal baths. We stop in Ambatolampy and visit a foundry that manufactures aluminum items. After lunch, we continue our journey to Antsirabe.

Before continuing to Miandrivazo, we will visit a small artist workshop that produces art objects made from zebu horn. On our way to Miandrivazo, we discover villages that reflect the typical way of life of the Malagasy people.

Travel Day 6: Miandrivazo - Kirindy / Night hike in the Kirindy Reserve

Today we continue on to Kirindy. The road is difficult to navigate and it takes some time. In the plains of Kirindy, countless baobabs and dry bushes adorn the landscape. At dusk, we take a short hike to observe the nocturnal animals, especially the famous ''Fosa'', the only predator in Madagascar.

In the morning we hike into the private reserve of Kirindy, which houses many endemic plant species and animals. Birds and reptiles can also be discovered here. After the visit, we continue to Bekopaka, the starting point for Tsingy National Park.

On this day we will visit the Tsingys, the Lak massif of Bemaraha, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990. The sharp peaks of the massif reach up to 30 meters high.

Today we leave Bekopaka and continue to Morondava, passing by the beautiful Avenue of the Baobabs. The Baobabs are also called the mothers of the forest. Here, at these majestic trees, we stop to take a few nice photos.

Right after breakfast, we will drive back to Antsirabe today. We will stop at Lake Andraikiba and relax briefly before continuing on to Antsirabe.

In the morning, we visit a workshop by rickshaw that manufactures toys from recycled materials, before heading to the Ranomafana National Park, which is one of the last mountain cloud forests on this earth. Here, various species of lemurs live and many endemic plants are waiting to be discovered by us.

In the early morning, you will leave the hotel for a hike of about three hours accompanied by a knowledgeable guide into the forest of Ranomafana. In the afternoon, we will visit a typical ''Tanala'' village, which translates to mean forest dwellers.

After breakfast, you leave the rainforest of Ranomafana and drive to Ambalavano, which is known for its vineyards. Next, there is a visit to Anja Park, a conservation project that is very successfully run by the local population. Here we will be greeted by the Katas, the ring-tailed lemurs. Then we continue on to Ranohira, where the landscape gradually changes and becomes increasingly barren.

Travel Day 14: Hike in the Isalo Massif

Travel Day 14: Hike in the Isalo Massif

For this day, a three-hour hike through the park is planned. Passing the botanical garden, it goes to a freshwater oasis, with panoramic views and a refreshing swim always on the way. Afterwards, we return to the hotel, from where we will visit the museum of the region in the afternoon, which presents the formation of the sandstone massif of Isalo in more detail.

In the morning we drive on National Road No. 7 towards Toliara. Passing the village of Ilakaka, which has gained more and more significance lately due to the sapphire market. Baobabs and Mahafaly graves can be discovered again and again along the roadside, as you drive past Tulear towards Ifaty.

After breakfast, you will be picked up by a Zebu cart that will take you to Reniala Park. This park features botanical gardens with numerous endemic plant species, impressive baobabs, and a bird reserve. The afternoon is free for you today, so you can relax at the sea or go swimming or snorkeling.

You also have the next two days here at the sea of Ifaty at your disposal. The dreamy white sandy beach invites you to swim, dive, and snorkel. The hotel also offers a range of excursions or activities that you can gladly participate in.

From Toliara Airport you will fly back to Antananarivo and will be taken to your hotel upon arrival.
