Days 11-16

Bishkek - Arrival in Kyrgyzstan

You will arrive in Bishkek, the capital and cultural centre of Kyrgyzstan. The city originated from a caravan station on the Silk Road and is full of history. On this motorcycle journey in Kyrgyzstan, you will take a rest day, explore markets and cafes, and prepare for the mountain stages.

Questions about the tour itinerary?

Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.

M41 - Ascending to the Pamir Highway

From Osh, you will ride onto the legendary M41, the Pamir Highway. Simply called 'the road' by locals, it alternates between asphalt, gravel, and potholes. Your Pamir Highway motorcycle tour begins its most impressive section here, climbing into thin air.

High Passes - To the Border

The Pamir Highway takes you over passes beyond 4,000 meters. River crossings, rubble, and lonely settlements will shape the day. This adventure motorcycle journey on the Pamir Highway will take you to the border with Tajikistan, where you will set up camp at over 4,000 meters altitude.

Tajikistan

On the highest section of the M41, your Pamir Highway motorcycle journey rolls through Tajikistan, with passes over 4,600 meters up to the capital, Dushanbe.

Days 17-20

Pamir - Border Crossing into Tajikistan

You will cross the border into Tajikistan and remain on the M41. The Pamir Highway is the second highest mountain road in the world. On this motorcycle journey in Tajikistan, you will reach heights over 4,600 meters, where the air becomes thin and the landscape appears moon-like and barren.

Highlands - Lakes & 4655 Meters

The day takes you over the highest point of the route, around 4,655 meters. Turquoise mountain lakes and snow-capped peaks will accompany you. This Pamir motorcycle expedition is one of the highlights of the entire journey but requires respect for altitude and changing weather.

Pamir - Descent Westwards

You will slowly lose altitude. The Pamir Highway leads through deep valleys and along wild rivers. On this Pamir Highway motorcycle journey, destroyed bridges and washed-out sections alternate with wide views, true expedition riding far from any civilization.

Dushanbe - Arrival in the Capital

The Pamir Highway ends in Dushanbe, an impressive city with one of the highest flagpoles in the world. After days in the high mountains, you will enjoy comfort again on this Enduro expedition, wash off the dust, and have your motorcycle checked for the Silk Road.

Uzbekistan

Through the western border crossing, your Pamir Highway motorcycle journey leads to Uzbekistan, to the Silk Road cities of Samarkand and Bukhara.

Days 21-23

Samarkand - Border & City of Kings

You will cross the border into Uzbekistan and reach Samarkand, one of the oldest cities of kings in the world. For the first time in a long while, you will encounter travel groups again. On this Silk Road Pamir motorcycle journey, you will marvel at the city centre, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.

Samarkand - Day on the Silk Road

A full day is reserved for Samarkand. You will explore the Registan, magnificent madrasahs, and lively bazaars along the ancient Silk Road. This stage full of motorcycle adventures in Central Asia gives you time to absorb culture and history before continuing to Bukhara.

Bukhara - Continuing Through Uzbekistan

You will ride to Bukhara, the second major highlight of Uzbekistan. ATMs are rare, payments are made with thick bundles of Soʼm, and petrol is only available with low octane. This is what makes this motorcycle expedition in Central Asia so special and challenging.

Turkmenistan

Your Pamir Highway motorcycle journey crosses Turkmenistan, passing the capital Ashgabat, on the way to the Iranian border.

Days 24-25

Turkmenistan - Border & Desert

You will cross the border into Turkmenistan. Vast desert landscapes and long, straight tracks will dominate the day. This transcontinental motorcycle journey takes you through a country that few travellers enter, with strict formalities and a unique atmosphere.

Ashgabat - Passing the Capital

You will pass by Ashgabat, the marble-white capital of Turkmenistan. After that, you will follow the route towards the Iranian border. On this Pamir Highway motorcycle tour, you will feel how the climate and culture change with each stage as you get closer to the Middle East.

Iran

Through Iran, your Pamir Highway motorcycle journey takes you over Tehran, past deserts and mountains towards the Turkish border.

Days 26-27

Iran - Border Crossing & Ride

You will cross the border into Iran. Hospitality, desert landscapes, and impressive mountains await you. This motorcycle journey from Mongolia to Turkey is approaching its destination as you make good progress on good roads towards the interior and Tehran.

Tehran - Through Iran

You will cross Tehran and continue westward. Dense traffic in the metropolis alternates with long stretches in the countryside. On this Pamir motorcycle expedition, only a few kilometres remain between you and the Turkish border and the goal of your journey.

Turkey

Your Pamir Highway motorcycle journey ends in Turkey, in the historic city of Erzurum, after approximately 7,500 km and 28 days.

Day 28

Erzurum - Destination & Buffer Day

You will reach Erzurum, the destination of your transcontinental motorcycle journey. After 7,500 km, a tremendous distance lies behind you. This last day also serves as a buffer in case anything comes up along the way. From here, you will fly home or travel back through Eastern Europe with the support vehicle.
