Days 1–7
South Africa - Cederberg Mountains

South Africa - Cederberg Mountains

We begin our adventure journey and leave Cape Town in the morning, first we make a short stop for a last look at Table Mountain from the other side of Table Bay. The Cederberg region not only has spectacular mountains and orange farms to offer, but is also home to the Rooibos bush which has become a well-known beverage around the world. We visit a working Rooibos tea farm and see the Rooibos and Buchu plants in their natural environment. Dinner at our accommodation provides the opportunity to get to know each other and witness the hospitality of South Africans. Included highlight: Rooibos tea - plantation visit

Kap Agulhas
Namaqualand - Gariep (Orange) River

Namaqualand - Gariep (Orange) River

Namaqualand gives us a first impression of the desert views that will accompany us in the coming days. We continue our adventure journey northward and after a brief stop in Springbok to buy supplies, we arrive at our camp on the banks of the Orange River. Those who are lucky enough to travel in the spring months (July to September) can see the unique wildflowers that have made this region famous. Regardless of the season, the extraordinary views of the desert provide a unique backdrop for our day. Included highlight: Spring wildflowers (season-dependent July - September)

Fish River Canyon
Namibia - Gariep (Orange) River - Fish River Canyon

Namibia - Gariep (Orange) River - Fish River Canyon

The Orange River was named after the Dutch royal house, but in earlier days it was called by its original name Gariep, which simply means "river" in the native KhoeKhoe language. The Orange River, which has its source in the mountains of Lesotho, is the longest river in South Africa and provides a unique contrast to the desert landscapes along its banks. The best way to experience the river is to get on the water, and this morning we have the opportunity to join an optional canoe tour on the river. Later this morning, we will cross the border into Namibia and continue to the Fish River Canyon, one of the largest of its kind in the world, namely the 2nd largest canyon in the world. This afternoon, we will walk along the edge of the canyon, where we will be treated to breathtaking views into the depths of the canyon, and we will end our day with an unforgettable sunset at the edge of the canyon. Optional activities: Half-day canoe trip

Fish River Canyon, Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground

Fish River Canyon, Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground

Today we set off early and drive to the edge of the Fish River Canyons. We have time to experience the first rays of sunshine flooding the canyon. We stretch our legs and take a little walk along the edge of the canyon. Afterwards, we head west to the desert town of Keetmanshoop. In the afternoon, we visit the Quiver Tree Forest as well as Giants Playground, named after its massive and unique rock formations. Included highlight: Scenic walk along the edge of the Fish River Canyon / Visit to the Quiver Tree Forest and Giants Playground

We take the time to visit both Sossusvlei and Deadvlei before saying goodbye to the dune fields. This evening, we shake the red sand out of our shoes and spend the night under the breathtaking African starry sky.
