Swakopmund via Spitzkoppe to Brandberg

Swakopmund via Spitzkoppe to Brandberg

After our first meeting, we leave the coastal town of Swakopmund and head towards the massive granite formations of Spitzkoppe, which rise 700 meters above the desert plains. The rock paintings indicate the significance this area had for the San many years ago. During a walk with a local guide, we have the opportunity to admire some examples of San rock art before we make our way to our overnight location for the evening. Meals: Lunch, Dinner Included highlight: Visit to Spitzkoppe and exploration with a local guide.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Brandberg the White Lady Track

Brandberg the White Lady Track

The Brandberg (Burning Mountains) is considered the highest mountain in Namibia and home to the famous White Lady, one of more than 45,000 rock paintings in the area. This morning we will take a one-hour hike to see the painting that is said to be 2,000 years old. Please note that the hike takes place through rough terrain along the gorge of the normally dry Tsisab River. After our exploration, our journey continues to the area of Kamanjab. Those who want to visit an educational center showcasing the lifestyle of the Himba tribe have the option to book an optional excursion in the afternoon. No chance of hunger with this breakfast, lunch, and delicious dinner. We recommend joining the White Lady hike at Brandberg.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Etosha National Park

Etosha National Park

We get up early and drive to Etosha National Park. Etosha is the setting for some of the most unique wildlife observations in Africa. We reach the park in the afternoon and experience our first game drive on the way to the camp. Included are breakfast, lunch snack, and dinner. The highlight of the day is the afternoon safari in the truck.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Etosha National Park

Etosha National Park

Our second day in Etosha allows us another full day to continue our exploration of the park. No day on a safari is like the other and the excitement before each special sighting is motivation enough to keep our eyes wide open. We explore the edges of the Etosha Pan in search of the rich wildlife that exists in the park. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included highlight: Full-day safari in a truck.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Windhoek

Windhoek

We have to get up early because we are heading to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. After arriving, we will take a short walk through the city center and have the opportunity to visit some of the more well-known sights. Our accommodation is halfway between the city and the airport. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included Highlight: Walk through Windhoek with your guide.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Botswana - Ghanzi

Botswana - Ghanzi

Today we travel east to neighboring Botswana and the Kalahari Desert. The Kalahari is distinctly different from the Namib Desert, after which Namibia is named. Nevertheless, the Kalahari is no less dramatic and spans over 900,000 square kilometers. The San people have long been associated with this rugged environment. Tonight we will enjoy an evening of dance that gives us insight into their culture of singing, dancing, and storytelling. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Included highlight: San tribal dance in the evening. Optional activity: Walk with the San (can also take place the next morning).

Khwai Conservation Area

Khwai Conservation Area

The next two nights we will be separated from our Overland truck. Therefore, it is important that you pack/gather your personal belongings that you may need before we depart for Maun. There will not be enough time to repack in Maun. Please pack lightly and only take what you need for the next two nights. This morning we will wake up early and head to Maun. Upon arrival in Maun, you will have the opportunity to participate in a scenic flight over the delta (depending on time and weather). After the optional scenic flight, you will be picked up in Maun and taken to the Khwai Reserve in smaller safari vehicles. In the evening, our guide will prepare us for our mokoro excursion, the outing in the Okavango Delta, and our game drive in Khwai. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Optional activity: Helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta.

Khwai Conservation Area

Khwai Conservation Area

We leave early and travel by safari vehicle to the Poling Station, where we meet the Polers who will accompany us into the delta. The Polers will guide us through the tranquil area with narrow, reed-lined canals that open up to beautiful lagoons. Although the mokoro path is not primarily for wildlife viewing, you can see a variety of animals in this untouched wilderness area, including elephants, giraffes, kudus, impalas, and zebras. After lunch, we return to the Khwai Reserve and take an afternoon game drive in open 4x4 safari vehicles. The routes chosen by the professional guide for the safari may vary, especially since certain roads may be closed or impassable due to flooding. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included Highlight: Mokoro excursion in the morning, afternoon safari.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Savuti Game Reserve

Savuti Game Reserve

The journey today through the Savuti National Park to Kasane will take about ten hours. We will depart at first light in open 4x4 safari vehicles. The road conditions can best be described as dense sand and, depending on the season you are traveling in, it may go through dense vegetation. During the winter months (May to September), we recommend bundling up in warm clothing, packing a hat and/or a scarf, as well as a thick jacket. When traversing these wilderness areas, wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, and any stop for wildlife observation extends the time we spend in the 4x4 safari vehicle. It is advisable to stock up on snacks and at least five liters of water in Maun, as there are no further supply points until Kasane. The Savuti Wildlife Reserve is a unique area that borders the Okavango Delta to the west and the Chobe National Park to the east. Savuti is known for having the largest concentration of wildlife in Southern Africa. Today is a long day, but we hope to see many species of animals and plants as well. The habitats in the Savuti Wildlife Reserve range from wetlands to open water to grasslands and savannah woodlands. In the afternoon, we will reach the banks of the Chobe River and meet up again with our overland truck in the town of Kasane. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Included highlight: full-day safari in the Savuti Game Reserve in 4x4 safari vehicles.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park

Those who wish to participate in the optional night drive in Chobe National Park will be picked up early from the camp and will travel in open safari vehicles. You will return to the camp in time for lunch and a short siesta before we set off in the afternoon to explore Chobe National Park from the river. On a leisurely boat ride, we can closely observe the many elephants that are found along the river in the afternoon. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included Highlight: Chobe National Park Boat Ride. Optional Activity: Chobe National Park Safari.

Erlebnis-Reisen Afrika
Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls

Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls

With all the memories of our experiences in the wilderness burned into our minds, we cross the border into Zimbabwe and drive the short distance to Victoria Falls. Today you have the opportunity to see the spectacular Victoria Falls, which is also known by the local name "Mosi-oa Tunya" (the smoke that thunders). While a large part of today is dedicated to the sight of the mighty Zambezi River plunging into the Batoka Gorge below, the vibrant adventure town of Victoria Falls also offers a range of optional activities for those who need a dose of adrenaline in the afternoon. For the relaxed traveler, there are also craft markets and cafés. Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Optional activities: Visit to Victoria Falls National Park, bungee jump, gorge swing, sunset boat cruise, helicopter flights.
