The Journey

Carpathian Adventure in the Snow

The sun laughs from the clear, ice-blue sky as we leave the deep snow-covered forest behind us. Our 4x4 off-road vehicles carve their way through the crunching powder snow. The tire tracks sparkle in the winter sun like diamonds. It's not an easy route, but that's exactly what makes it appealing: pure adventure, nature, and team spirit!! Whether planned or unplanned - our breaks are welcome opportunities to enjoy the enchanting panorama, take a breath, and snap some photos. When we get stuck again, the shovel comes into play - or the winch. But we help each other, laugh, curse, and celebrate every meter conquered together :-) The snow chains bite through the fresh snow, but where the sun softens it, it gets slippery - challenge accepted! Sometimes fallen trees also block our way, which have simply collapsed under the weight of the snow. But with the chainsaw in our luggage and a strong team, even that is quickly done. No obstacle holds us up for long - we fight our way through. Don't be surprised if a horse-drawn cart with two shepherds suddenly appears in front of us. They have come from their remote mountain hut - and tell us that wolves were prowling nearby the night before. Curiously, we follow their trail - and indeed: fresh wolf tracks in the snow, clearly visible. A moment that sends shivers down your spine. But the Carpathians have even more to offer: animal tracks weave through the snow like an invisible network. We spot a herd of deer at the edge of the forest and watch a fox hiding low in the bushes.

Day 1

Day 1

We take a well-deserved break, in the middle of the snowy solitude, surrounded by nothing but silence, nature, and the crackling snow beneath our boots. In no time, a small fire flickers, providing us warmth. The thermoses with hot tea and strong coffee make the rounds, hands gratefully reaching for them. The smell of fresh sausages sizzling over the flames fills the clear winter air.

Day 2

Day 2

A small campfire, strong coffee, good food, and great company - another special moment that can only be experienced in the winter Carpathians. After we have conquered the pass, the descent into the valley begins. Passing by a frozen lake shimmering under a glittering blanket of snow in the evening sun - almost like a diamond between rock and forest. Use this unique view to take a great memory photo. When we finally reach our guesthouse high on the mountain, a picture unfolds before us like something out of a winter fairy tale: The small mountain village deep in the valley is already in the darkness of night, only the warm lights of the lanterns shine sporadically between the houses. A peaceful, quiet sight. A last look at the surrounding mountains and then it’s inside to the warm room. We enjoy a typical Romanian meal and savor the best smoked trouts from the region. By the fireplace, we enjoy the delicious mulled wine and look forward to the next days in the Carpathians.
