Gorilla trekking Uganda is the red thread of this journey, which takes you as a small group through the untamed east of Africa. Your camping safari Uganda starts at Murchison Falls National Park, where the Nile breaks through a narrow gorge, and takes you further into the Budongo Forest to the chimpanzees. After a boat trip on the Nile and a stop at Queen Elizabeth National Park, you reach Lake Bunyonyi – your base for mountain gorilla trekking Uganda. Murchison Falls - Gorilla Trekking Uganda
Your Gorilla Trekking Uganda begins in Masindi, where you meet your guides and head to Murchison Falls National Park. The park on the mighty Nile is considered one of the most beautiful in Uganda. In the evening, your guide prepares you for the coming days. Optionally, you can follow the white rhinos on foot during the Ziwa Rhino Walk.
Budongo Forest - Chimpanzee Trekking Uganda
Today we will go to the Budongo Forest, the largest mahogany forest in East Africa and home to around 600 to 700 chimpanzees. After breakfast, you will follow your guide in search of the great apes. Afterwards, you will enjoy a boat trip on the Nile. If the group is larger than twelve guests, the chimpanzee trekking will be split into morning and afternoon – a little flexibility is part of every trip to Africa.
Lake Kikorongo - Queen Elizabeth Safari
From Masindi, you set off and drive to the edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park's biodiversity is well-known: In addition to elephants, buffaloes, and lions, the famous tree-climbing lions also live here. Your camping safari in Uganda takes you to accommodation on a hill, from which you can enjoy a wide view over the idyllic Kikorongo Lake.
Lake Bunyonyi - Mountain Gorilla Trekking Uganda
You are crossing the equator again and traveling south into the green mountainous landscape of Lake Bunyonyi. With anticipation, you prepare for the upcoming mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda. In the evening, you receive an introduction that shows you what to expect when encountering the rare primates. Lake Bunyonyi with its many islands is your base for the coming days.

Bwindi - Gorilla Safari Uganda
Today, the encounter with the mountain gorillas is in focus. Only about 650 animals live in the wild, and your permit goes directly towards their protection and the development of local communities. Whenever possible, you visit the gorillas in Bwindi National Park in Uganda; depending on the availability of permits, the trekking can also lead to Rwanda or the DR Congo. A day that has lasting effects.
Lake Bunyonyi - Watching mountain gorillas
Although two days are planned for the gorilla trekking, you only spend one day on the actual trek. The buffer ensures that all permits are available in time and that the whole group gets a chance. On your free day at Lake Bunyonyi, you can optionally observe the mountain gorillas again, go hiking in Uganda, visit a pygmy village, or explore the area by mountain bike.
Lake Mburo - Birdwatching Safari
You leave Lake Bunyonyi and drive to Lake Mburo in the Ankole region. Over approximately 260 square kilometers, gentle hills, open grassland, and acacia forests await you. With over 350 bird species, birdwatching at Lake Mburo is a highlight – from the rare shoebill to many waterfowl. Around the lake, there are also elands, impalas, buffalo, zebras, crocodiles, and hippos.
Kampala - Conclusion of the Uganda Adventure Trip
After breakfast, you make your way back to Kampala and cross the equator one last time. Your Uganda adventure ends with your arrival in the capital, where you review the impressions of the past days – from the gorillas to the vast savannahs.
