Through Patnitop and Srinagar, with a free day at Dal Lake, this Himalayan off-road tour continues to Kargil and finally to Leh. There, the real off-road Himalayan adventure part of the journey begins over the highest drivable passes in the world.

Delhi – Arrival and Getting to Know Each Other
Your India Himalaya 4x4 journey begins with your arrival in Delhi. You will be picked up at the airport and taken to your hotel. In the evening, you will meet the group and get to know your fellow travelers over local cuisine, before the actual offroad stage starts the next day.
Delhi – Amritsar Golden Temple
Early in the morning, you head towards Amritsar - the beginning of your Ladakh Offroad Journey. In Amritsar, you visit the Golden Temple, one of the most important shrines of the Sikh religion, adorned with 400 kg of gold and surrounded by a serene pond. In the evening, you have free time.
Amritsar – Patnitop in the Pir Panjal
On this India Offroad Journey we continue to Patnitop. The route leads through the snow-covered mountains of the Pir Panjal range and past mountain streams with allegedly healing water. Patnitop is located on a plateau in the Shivalik belt, surrounded by dense pine forests.
Patnitop – Srinagar on Jhelum
On this 4x4 tour Himalaya, you will reach Srinagar today, situated between clear lakes and wooded mountains. The Jhelum River flows through the city and is spanned by wooden bridges. Srinagar is located in the famous Kashmir Valley, known for silk, carpets, and wood carving.
Srinagar – Leisure Day at Dal Lake
As a self-drive tour in India participant, you enjoy a free day in Srinagar today. You can visit the Mughal gardens, take a Shikara ride on Dal Lake, or stroll through the local markets where Pashmina scarves and Kashmiri handicrafts are sold.
Srinagar – Kargil via Zoji La
Back behind the wheel, this North India Offroad Trip takes you to Kargil today. The route leads over the Zoji-La Pass at 11,575 feet, passing Dras, the second coldest inhabited place in the world. Along the way, you will stop at Tiger Hill and the Kargil War Memorial.
Kargil – Leh and Magnetic Hill
The road to Leh is part of this offroad holiday Ladakh stage: rocky cliffs, deep valleys, and a stop at the Hall of Fame await you. After visiting the Pathar Sahib Gurudwara from 1517, you will experience the Magnetic Hill, where your vehicle seemingly rolls uphill.
Leh – Acclimatization and Culture
At an altitude of 3500 meters, you spend an acclimatization day - important for every India adventure trip at this altitude. You visit the Leh Palace, also called Lhachen Palkhar, built around 1600, and the Shanti Stupa, a white dome overlooking the entire city.

Leh – Nubra Valley via Khardung La
This Ladakh 4x4 Adventure stage takes you over the Khardung La at 5350 meters, one of the highest drivable mountain passes in the world. At the end of the day, you will reach the Nubra Valley, where you will spend the night and recover from driving.
Nubra Valley – Camels and Dunes
On this Ladakh adventure trip, you will get to know the Nubra Valley with its sand dunes and camels. You can ride a two-humped camel, take an ATV tour, or use the free day to relax before the group meets for dinner.
Nubra Valley – Pangong Tso Lake
Your Ladakh Offroad Journey today leads over rugged gravel paths and high passes to Pangong Tso, a lake at over 4200 meters. Two-thirds of its area lies in Tibet. The lake has served multiple times as a backdrop for Bollywood films.
Pangong – Leh via Chang La
Over the Chang La Pass at around 5300 meters, this Offroad Adventure Himalaya leads back to Leh between snow-covered peaks. Due to the border location of the region, you should have your passport ready, as there are occasional checks.
Leh – Jispa via Baralacha La
On this Himalaya Offroad Tour you will reach Jispa, with a stop at the Zing Zing Bar. The route takes you over the Baralacha La and the Gata Loops - 21 hairpin bends over 23 kilometers with an elevation gain of 730 meters - through sections of asphalt and gravel.
Jispa – Manali through Atal Tunnel
Your India Himalaya 4x4 route takes you today through the approximately 9 km long Atal Tunnel and past the village of Keylong as well as the Bara-Shigri Glacier. Via Tandi, you finally reach Manali, where you will spend the night after a long day of driving.
Manali – Chandigarh Stage
As self-driving 4x4 India, you will drive the last off-road stage today along the winding roads of North India to Chandigarh. In the evening, the group reflects on the past days over a farewell dinner.
Chandigarh – Delhi Departure
On the last day of your India Himalaya 4x4 trip, you will travel from Chandigarh to Delhi, from where you will begin your journey home. With many impressions from passes, monasteries, and desert valleys, you say goodbye to this off-road expedition through North India.
