Plenty of companies sell motorcycle tours. These are the five things we do differently — the ones you notice by day three at the latest.
No tour goes into the catalogue before we have ridden it — track by track, fuel stop by fuel stop. We know where the sand gets deep, where the river crossing stands after rain, and where there is a bed at the end of the day that deserves the name. That is why the roadbook says what is coming, not what sounds good.
Every expedition travels with prepared machines, spares for the things that actually break out there, and a support vehicle carrying luggage, fuel and water. A flat tyre in the middle of nowhere becomes a coffee break — not a question of how you get back.
We ride in small groups. If you want to photograph, you stop. If you are faster, you ride ahead and wait at the junction. Nobody sits on anyone else's rear wheel, nobody gets herded — and everyone still sits at one table in the evening.
Drivers, cooks, workshops, families whose spare rooms we have slept in for years. That is the difference between a permit that comes through and one that does not. And the reason doors open that no booking platform lists.
Flights, shipping the bike, visas, hotels before and after the tour: we arrange all of it — as a tour operator since 1999. Here that comes with a name and a direct line, and it stays the same one until you pull your boots off at home.
Then the mechanic is standing next to you. Spares for the usual damage travel in the support vehicle, and if a repair takes longer, it carries you and the bike to the end of the stage. Nobody is left at the roadside.
There is no pace you have to keep. The guide rides in front, the mechanic rides last, and in between everyone rides their own. We regroup at junctions and over lunch — not out on the trail.
Then tell us before you book. Some of our trips are rideable for beginners and some honestly are not, and we will tell you which is which. If the tour you want comes too early, we will point you at a training course first.
Most people are. Our groups are almost always made up of riders who had not met before. Sharing a room is never compulsory — a single room is available for a supplement.
What is possible depends on how close you are to the departure date, and it is set out in your booking confirmation. Call us as soon as you know: the earlier it is, the more often we can move you rather than cancel you.
On most trips the machine is already waiting for you on the ground. If you insist on riding your own, we arrange the shipping — sending motorcycles halfway around the world is our day job anyway.
