Everything you need to know about South America

```html
South America is a vibrant and diverse continent. It stretches from the Caribbean almost to Antarctica and includes dense jungles, endless beaches, snow-capped Andes peaks, and huge cities. The population is a fascinating mix of indigenous peoples, descendants of the colonial era, and influences from Africa and Europe. Main languages are Spanish and Portuguese, with many ancient languages like Quechua and Guaraní still spoken today.
The climate in South America is as varied as its people. In the north, it is tropical and hot, with the rainforest often humid and steamy. The further south you go, the milder the weather becomes — and in Patagonia it can get really chilly. The Andes run like a gigantic wall along the west side of the continent and provide breathtaking landscapes.
When it comes to celebrating, South Americans are unbeatable. Carnival in Rio is a huge festival full of color and music, with the whole city turned upside down. In Peru, Inti Raymi is celebrated, an ancient Inca sun festival with dances, music, and traditional ceremonies. And of course, the tango from Argentina — a mix of melancholy and passion that can still be felt everywhere in Buenos Aires.
Culinarily, South America also has a lot to offer. Highlights include Peruvian ceviche (raw fish marinated in lime juice), Brazilian feijoada (a hearty stew with meat and beans), and Argentine asado (a traditional barbecue feast). In recent years, new gastronomic trends, such as the fusion cuisine from different countries, have become increasingly important.
In sports, football dominates. Brazil and Argentina are among the legendary nations of world football. But rodeo in Chile, surfing in Peru, and polo in Argentina also have many fans. The Copa América, one of the oldest football tournaments in the world, continues to attract large audiences and is held every four years, most recently in 2021.
In short: South America is a continent of contrasts. It brings together huge cities like São Paulo and Buenos Aires, centuries-old Inca sites like Machu Picchu, unspoiled nature in Patagonia, and wild wildlife in the Amazon. In recent years, tourism in this region has recovered strongly and now offers travelers numerous new experiences and adventures. It is lively, chaotic, warm-hearted — and absolutely unique.
