Motorcycle trip Central America

In the morning, the pickup of the motorcycles and tour briefing takes place. On a bumpy tar road, it goes through the valley of the Rio Chamelecon to La Entrada. From here, a mountainous, winding asphalt road leads to Copan Ruinas, the largest and most impressive Mayan site in Honduras. Overnight stay in Copan Ruinas.

Shortly before Copan, we turn onto a path to Santa Rosa de Copan with a beautiful view of the majestic Montanas de Celac, the highest mountains in Honduras (2,850 m). Here lies the Celaque National Park, one of the most impressive conservation areas in the country. Up to an altitude of 2,800 m, the dense, always humid mountain cloud forest extends, habitat of many endangered animals. Arrival in Gracias in the afternoon, a very Spanish-looking mountain town with cobblestone streets, red tiled roofs, and an old Spanish fortress. Overnight stay in Gracias.

After Perquin, we turn south. Via San Francisco Gotera and San Miguel, we reach the beaches of Playa El Cuco, a small fishing village with a black volcanic beach on the Pacific coast of El Salvador. Here, conservationists take care of protecting the large sea turtles, and surfers from all over the world are attracted to this surfer paradise because of the high waves. We spend the night on the beach and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Pacific.

Trip to Ataco, a place surrounded by coffee plantations and hot springs in the mountains of El Salvador with subtropical vegetation. Overnight stay in Ataco.

The day is free to enjoy. Relaxing by the pool, strolling through the city, or simply enjoying the magnificent view over the lake at the partially smoking volcanoes. Overnight stay in Panajachel.

Excursion on a bumpy tar road to a nearby Indian village along Lake Atitlan. The Indians still wear the most colorful costumes in all of Guatemala. After lunch, we follow 40 km of winding curves on a tar road to the best-known Indian market in Guatemala, Chichicastenango. We visit the market and have the opportunity to observe the mysterious rites on the steps of the Santo Thomas church. Overnight stay in Chichicastenango.

The road winds through tropical mountain scenery to Coban, the center of Alta Verapaz, the most important coffee-growing region of Guatemala. The route includes beautiful landscape views and is marked by dense jungle and partially steep sections. We approach the rainforest area of Peten. Humidity and heat increase. On a well-developed paved road, we continue to Sayaxche. Overnight stay in Sayaxche by the Rio de la Passion. Peten Itza is located. Afterwards, we continue towards the Tikal National Park. Overnight stay on the northern shore of the lake in El Remate.

Visit to Tikal, the oldest and most important ancient Maya city, in the middle of the jungle of Peten. Here stand the highest and steepest pyramids, whose peaks tower over the 50m high rainforest giants. Toucans and parrots fly over the temple complexes and the cries of howler monkeys are unmistakable. In the afternoon, return to Lake Peten Itza and overnight stay directly at the lake.

Drive on a lonely gravel and clay path (50 km) to the Pine Ridge Reserve and visit the remote Maya site of Caracol, the largest Maya site in Belize. Not much has been excavated here yet, but the gigantic dimensions of the city become clear when seeing the largest Maya pyramid in the entire Maya region of Central America. Overnight stay in San Ignacio.

Drive through huge banana plantations to the border river 'Motagua'. After the border clearance, continue on a bumpy asphalt road to the Caribbean coast of Honduras. After lunch on the beach of Omoa, drive to San Pedro Sula, the starting point of our enduro hike. Joint farewell dinner and overnight stay in San Pedro Sula.
