Here, the Okavango River splits into a branching network of channels, creating lagoons and islands. A multitude of well-known African wildlife is native here. Especially during the dry season, many herds can be found here, which come from the plains in search of water towards the Okavango Delta. This makes this area very popular for safari tourists, there are numerous opportunities for game drives and especially river safaris with traditional Botswanan canoes are a must for adventurous travelers.
