Our Tunisia motorcycle tours span a real range: the 8-day Enduro Pur is a first taste of sand and piste in the Sahara, while the 13 to 15-day expeditions such as the Sahara Adventure or the New Year's Eve Sahara tour take you through deep sand in the Grand Erg Oriental, firm salt tracks at Chott el Djerid and stone tracks around Matmata. Confident standing riders with some sand experience belong on the longer expeditions; newcomers to the Sahara should start with the shorter tour.
You ride OVERCROSS's well-maintained KTM and Yamaha enduros, on the Yamaha tour the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally. A technical support team travels with every tour and handles maintenance and repairs on the road, while a support vehicle carries luggage, water and gear. Bring your riding skills; the machine is looked after for you.
Depending on the tour you choose, you are on the road for 8 to 15 days, crossing dunes at the Grand Erg Oriental, the salt lake of Chott el Djerid and the mountain tracks of the Dahar. Each day starts with a briefing and GPS track before changing sand, gravel and salt pistes. Most nights are spent at a desert camp under the stars, with apartments on some tours, in groups of mostly 10 to 12 riders.
Experience required
For the multi-day Sahara expeditions like the Sahara Adventure or the New Year's Eve Sahara tour you need confident standing riding and experience in deep sand, like the Grand Erg Oriental delivers. The 8-day Enduro Pur is more beginner-friendly and works well as your first Sahara contact.
Own bike allowed
All Tunisia tours are ridden on OVERCROSS's provided, professionally maintained KTM and Yamaha enduros, such as the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally on the Yamaha tour. A technical support team is on hand throughout; your own motorcycle is not used on these tours.
Daily distance
Stages alternate between deep sand in the Grand Erg Oriental, firm salt tracks at Chott el Djerid and stone tracks in the Dahar mountains and around Matmata. Depending on the tour you spend 8 to 15 days riding through the Tunisian Sahara, with a support vehicle for luggage and equipment.
Typical day
Mornings start with a stage briefing including the GPS track, then sand, gravel and salt pistes with a support vehicle close by. Evenings bring a desert camp under the stars, with apartments on some tours, usually in groups of 10 to 12 riders.
Best time to ride
The best time for a Tunisia motorcycle tour runs from October to April, while Sahara temperatures stay bearable. The dunes of the Grand Erg Oriental and the oasis of Ksar Ghilane ride best from November to March. Chott el Djerid and the Matmata mountains are open from October. High summer is off limits for the desert routes.

What is included in the price of a Tunisia motorcycle tour?
The price includes a well-maintained KTM or Yamaha enduro, an experienced guide, the technical support team with a service vehicle for luggage and gear, and accommodation as described for each tour, from the desert camp to hotel or apartment stays. Flights and international health insurance are usually not included.
Do I need my own motorcycle for the Sahara tours?
No. All our Tunisia tours are ridden on OVERCROSS's provided, professionally maintained KTM and Yamaha enduros, including the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Rally on the Yamaha tour. You do not need to bring your own machine.
How big are the groups on a Tunisia motorcycle tour?
Groups are usually 6 to 12 riders, so the guide and support team can adjust pace and difficulty to each rider's skill level on the road.
Which tour matches my riding level?
For a first contact with the Sahara, the 8-day Enduro Pur is the right start. If you already have experience in deep sand, the 13-day Sahara Adventure or the 15-day New Year's Eve Sahara tour take you through the Grand Erg Oriental, Chott el Djerid and the Dahar mountains. Riders looking for a bigger challenge can join the 20-day Libya Sahara expedition.
How does booking and the deposit work?
After your enquiry you receive a personal offer including the mandatory travel security certificate. The booking becomes binding once you confirm it, after which you receive the tour folder, packing list and all further preparation information.
What else should I plan for besides the tour price?
Flights, international health insurance and, depending on the tour, drinks, meals outside camp days or a single room or single tent supplement are not included in the base price. Motorcycle transport to the ferry port costs around 250 EUR return per bike and is billed separately.
