Days 1–15

Lima - Arrival and Transfer

Welcome to Peru! After arriving at Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima, our transfer will take you to the hotel. The first evening of your motorcycle tour through Peru is yours to settle in and acclimatize, ideal for relaxing after the long flight before the Andes call.

Lima

To kick things off, you explore Lima, the cultural center of Peru with its UNESCO-listed old town. Highlights of the city tour include the Plaza de Armas and the Presidential Palace. Before the Lima Cusco motorcycle tour really begins, you get a sense of the history, cuisine, and rhythm of the Peruvian capital. (Admissions on site.)

Ica - Pan-American Highway

You roll south on the Pan-American Highway. In Ica, you visit the desert oasis Huacachina, surrounded by palm trees and huge sand dunes. The first kilometers of your Peru Andes motorcycle tour lead along the Pacific coast, where the sea and desert meet closely and the landscape changes constantly.

Nasca - Flight over the Nasca Lines

About 150 kilometers further along the Pan-American Highway, you reach Nasca. From here, you can optionally take off in a small plane and view the mysterious Nasca Lines from the air. This leg of the Nasca Lines motorcycle tour is one of the most impressive moments of the journey, as figures like the hummingbird and monkey become visible beneath you. (Flight on site can be booked with us.)

Abancay - Over Pampa Galeras into the Andes

Today we head up into the Andes. On the 460-kilometer stretch, you will cross the Pampa Galeras nature reserve with its herds of vicuña and reach heights of over 4,500 meters. This section of the Andes motorcycle trip in Peru challenges you with thin air and vast puna landscapes, but rewards you with spectacular views.

Cusco - Arrival in the navel of the world

About 200 kilometers take you to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital, whose name means "navel of the world." The Andean city is full of history and charm. For many, this day is the highlight of the Cusco motorcycle tour, when cobblestone streets and colonial squares lie before you for the first time.

Aguas Calientes - Bus and Train

Today the motorcycles are resting. You will travel by bus to Ollantaytambo and then continue by train to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night very close to Machu Picchu. Even without a motorcycle, this day of your motorcycle tour Peru Machu Picchu remains exciting, as the Sacred Valley of the Incas passes by you with terraces and mountain villages.

Machu Picchu - Visit to the Inca city

Early in the morning, you take the first bus up to the world-famous ruins of Machu Picchu and dive into the world of the Incas. The visit to this wonder of the world is the highlight of any Machu Picchu motorcycle tour; terraced slopes, temples, and the view over the Urubamba Valley will linger in your memory for a long time. (Admission on site, not included.)

Questions about the tour itinerary?

Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.

Cusco - Free Time

The day in Cusco belongs to you. Museums, churches, and the many restaurants around the Plaza invite you to explore and linger, according to your taste. This break on the motorcycle tour Peru gives you time to enjoy the altitude and gather strength for the return trip through the Andes.

Andahuaylas - Curvy Andean Stage

On winding 340 kilometers, you ride to Andahuaylas, a typical Andean town at 2,900 meters in the valley of the Río Chumba. The way back is one of the most beautiful sections of this motorcycle tour through Peru, with endless hairpin turns, green valleys, and little traffic off the main routes.

Ayacucho - Off the Beaten Path

Further to Ayacucho. Away from the tourist streams, you will experience the "real" Peru over a distance of about 230 kilometers before reaching your destination today. This stage of the motorcycle journey Peru Cusco takes you through villages and highlands where traditions are still alive and hospitality is emphasized.

Paracas - Over the Abra Apacheta

Over the airy pass Abra Apacheta at 4,746 meters, it goes back to the coast. After about 360 kilometers, you reach the relaxed Paracas. This high-altitude stage is a highlight of the Peru Andes motorcycle tour, as narrow switchbacks and wide views of the snow-capped peaks accompany you.

Ballestas Islands - Boat and National Park

In the morning, you visit the Ballestas Islands with sea lions, penguins, and seabirds, almost like in Galapagos. In the afternoon, you explore the Paracas National Park by motorcycle. This day of the motorcycle tour in Peru combines wildlife and desert coast and shows a completely different side of the country. (Boat tour on site, not included in the services.)

Lima - Return along the coast

On the last approximately 255 kilometers of the Pan-American Highway, you return to Lima with a motorcycle bag full of impressions. Thus, the riding part of your Lima Cusco motorcycle tour ends where it began – with one last look at the Pacific and the vibrant capital.

Lima - Return Flight

Transfer to the airport and return flight. Until next time, Peru! At the end of this Machu Picchu motorcycle tour, you'll take home pictures of the Andes, coast, and Inca sites. We hope to welcome you again soon on one of our tours.

  • Machu Picchu, the Nazca Lines, the Inca capital Cusco, and the Ballestas Islands near Paracas.
  • Travelers from the EU and Switzerland need a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the date of departure. For stays up to 90 days, you do not need a visa.
  • Check your standard vaccinations and refresh them if necessary. Additionally, a Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for Peru. For personal advice, it's best to talk to your family doctor or a travel medicine specialist.
  • Yes. We will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall and will be easily recognizable. Please do not leave the hall until we have met. We track your flight online and respond to changes in the arrival time.
  • Check whether your health and accident insurance also applies abroad, and supplement it with trip cancellation, repatriation, and legal protection if necessary. Ensure worldwide validity and note down the emergency numbers.

  • In larger towns and often along the route, you will have reception. Affordable travel tariffs are worthwhile; clarify this in advance with your provider. Most hotels offer free Wi-Fi.
  • The roads vary but usually surprise our participants positively. On major roads, tolls apply, which are often exempt for motorcycles. We indicate the off-road portion in the travel program.
  • The risks depend on the stage. Daily briefings reduce the risk of accidents. Traffic in large cities is lively, and animals roam freely in the countryside. We recommend defensive driving, full protective gear, and zero alcohol.
  • In larger cities like Lima, Ica, and Cusco, there are well-equipped clinics. In rural areas, medical care is limited. A comprehensive travel insurance with an emergency number is mandatory for this long-distance trip.
  • There is no fixed best time, as Peru has several climate zones. In the Andean highlands, April to October is ideal because it rains little then. We schedule our tour calendar based on climate and weather.
  • At altitude, headaches, fatigue, or shortness of breath may occur. Our stages are designed for slow acclimatization. Drinking plenty, coca tea, and "Sorojchi" tablets help. We carry an oximeter and blood pressure monitor.
  • For this tour, you can budget around 90 to 100 euros for fuel. Refueling is done per gallon (3.8 liters), paid in cash or by card.
  • You will ride the Yamaha Ténéré 700 on this tour, a light and off-road capable adventure bike with real rally character. It handles asphalt and gravel with ease and is ideal for this Andean tour.
  • Usually, there is only one seat (maximum two) available in the support vehicle. It is allocated on a "first come, first served" basis.
  • Yes, this is easily possible and is a lot of fun for many participants. Everything is organized as well as for the motorcycle group. We are happy to provide offers for 2 to 6 people.
