MOTORCYCLE-TOURS · PERU
This guided motorcycle tour through Peru is the classic choice for those who want to combine the Andes, coast, and Inca culture on two wheels. Over 22 days, we will ride approximately 3,025 kilometers from Lima through Nasca, Arequipa, and Lake Titicaca to Cusco and Machu Picchu.
The Journey
This motorcycle trip in Peru places equal emphasis on riding fun, nature, and culture. From Lima, we roll along the Pacific coast via the Pan-American Highway to the south, ascend into the Andean highlands, and reach classics like the Nasca Lines, the white city of Arequipa, Lake Titicaca with the Uros Islands, the Inca capital of Cusco, and of course Machu Picchu. The trip is intended for experienced motorcyclists; off-road experience is not required. Look forward to about 3,025 kilometers of real South America, on the nimble Yamaha Ténéré 700.
Welcome to Peru! After arriving at Jorge Chávez Airport in Lima, our transfer will take you to the hotel in the Miraflores neighborhood. The rest of the day is yours to relax and get settled in.
To kick things off, we explore Lima, the bustling metropolis and City of Kings. On a city tour, we see the viewpoint San Cristóbal, the Plaza de Armas, and the Presidential Palace in the UNESCO center. (Entrance fees on site.)
The first motorcycle stage rolls down the Panamericana. Passing the Pacific coast, endless dunes, and green oases, we reach Ica with the desert oasis Huacachina after about 300 kilometers.
Further south through vast wine-growing areas. After about 150 kilometers on the Pan-American Highway, we reach Nasca, the starting point for one of Peru's greatest mysteries.
Today the motorcycles stay put. Anyone who likes can take off in a small plane and view the famous Nazca Lines from above: huge figures like monkey, hummingbird, and spider. (Flight optional, to be paid on site.)
The Pan American Highway takes us about 165 kilometers further south to the idyllic bay of Puerto Inka, where penguins, pelicans, and sea lions are at home.
A long stage of about 400 kilometers leads to Arequipa, Peru's second largest city. Its nickname "white city" comes from the Sillar, a light volcanic rock from which many buildings are constructed.
Today we visit the Santa Catalina Monastery from the 16th century, a small city within the city with its own alleys and baroque architecture. The afternoon is yours to spend as you like.
About 310 kilometers up to the highlands to Puno on Lake Titicaca. At over 4,000 meters, the picture-perfect Peru reveals itself with herds of vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas at the roadside.
By boat, we go to the floating reed islands of the Uros, built once for protection against attackers. Next, we visit the island of Taquile in the deep blue Lake Titicaca. (Boat tour on site.)
About 386 kilometers bring us to Cusco, the former Inca capital and the "navel of the world." The city at 3,326 meters is one of the most visited destinations in South America.
Questions about the tour itinerary?
Our tour guide is happy to answer any questions about the day-by-day route, stops, and details.
Off to Machu Picchu! First by bus to Ollantaytambo, then by train to Aguas Calientes, a total of about 180 kilometers. Here we will spend the night, very close to the Wonder of the World.
In the early morning, we are among the first to take the bus up to Machu Picchu. The Incas built the citadel in the 15th century at 2,360 meters between green peaks. (Entrance on site.)
By motorcycle, we go to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the impressive salt terraces of Maras. A good lunch in the lively market town of Pisac rounds off the day.
The day in Cusco belongs to you. Browse through museums and churches or enjoy the hustle and bustle at the Plaza with a coffee, entirely to your taste.
The route to Abancay is about 310 winding kilometers to Chalhuanca. The road winds through a fantastic Andean landscape with constantly changing views.
The king stage! From Abancay back to Nasca, we climb nearly 4,000 meters in a single day and ascend to over 5,000 meters. About 380 kilometers of pure Andes.
Continuing north towards Paracas. The approximately 220 kilometers on the Pan-American are lined with vineyards and cotton fields, before we reach the relaxed coastal town.
In the early morning, fast boats take us to the Ballestas Islands, the "Little Galapagos" of Peru, with sea lions, penguins, and seabirds. Afterwards, we explore the Paracas National Park. (Boat tour on site.)
On the last approximately 260 kilometers, we roll back to Lima. In the evening, we reflect on the journey together.
Your last day in Lima is at your disposal, ideal for final explorations or a relaxing wind-down.
Transfer to the airport and return flight. Until next time, Peru!
