Ica and the Panamerican Highway

We roll south on the Pan-American Highway. In Ica, we visit the dreamlike desert oasis Huacachina, framed by palm trees and huge sand dunes.

About 140 kilometers further along the Pan-American Highway, we reach Nasca. From here, you can optionally take off in a small plane and view the mysterious Nasca Lines from the air. (Flight on site.)

On winding 340 kilometers we drive to Andahuaylas, a typical Andean town at 2,900 meters in the valley of the Río Chumba.

  • Airport transfers
  • Full comprehensive insurance required

  • The tour lasts 15 days, from arrival in Lima to the return flight.
  • About 2,300 kilometers along the Pan-American Highway and through the Andes highlands.
  • For experienced motorcycle riders who ride regularly. The trip is not suitable for beginners due to altitude and long stages.
  • Start and end point is Lima. Airport transfers are included in the travel price.
  • Machu Picchu, the Nasca Lines, the Inca capital Cusco, and the Ballestas Islands near Paracas.
  • Travelers from the EU and Switzerland need a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the departure date. No visa is required for stays up to 90 days.
  • Check your standard vaccinations and refresh them if necessary. A Hepatitis A vaccination is additionally recommended for Peru. For personal advice, it's best to consult your family doctor or a travel medicine specialist.
  • Yes. We will expect you in the arrival hall and will be easily recognizable. Please do not leave the hall before we have found each other. We track your flight online and respond to changes in arrival times.
  • Check whether your health and accident insurance also applies abroad, and supplement it for trip cancellation, repatriation, and legal protection if necessary. Ensure worldwide coverage and note down the emergency numbers.
  • We stay in carefully selected 2- and 3-star hotels with clean rooms, shower, toilet, and good breakfast. Single and double rooms are available; double rooms are only suitable for travelers who know each other.
  • Yes. You need both your national and international driver's license. Be sure to check the validity of both documents before departure.
  • In larger towns and mostly also along the route, you will have reception. Affordable travel rates are worth it; clarify that in advance with your provider. Most hotels have free Wi-Fi.
  • The roads vary, but most of the time they surprise our participants positively. Tolls are charged on main roads, which motorcycles are often exempt from. We indicate the off-road percentage in the travel program.
  • The risks depend on the stage. Daily briefings lower the risk of accidents. Traffic in large cities is lively, and animals roam freely in rural areas. We recommend defensive driving, full protective gear, and a zero alcohol policy.
  • In larger cities like Lima, Ica, and Cusco, there are well-equipped clinics. In rural areas, the care is limited. A comprehensive travel insurance with an emergency number is mandatory for this long-distance journey.
  • There is no fixed best time since Peru has several climate zones. In the Andes highlands, April to October is ideal because it rains little then. We align our tour calendar with climate and weather.
  • At high altitude, headaches, fatigue, or shortness of breath can occur. Our stages are designed for slow acclimatization. Drinking plenty, Coca tea, and 'Sorojchi' tablets help. We carry an oximeter and a blood pressure monitor.
  • For this tour, you should budget around 90 to 100 euros for fuel. Fuel is priced per gallon (3.8 liters) and can be paid in cash or by card.
  • On this tour, you will ride the Yamaha Ténéré 700, a light and off-road capable adventure bike with true rally character. It handles asphalt and gravel confidently and is ideal for this Andean tour.
  • In the support vehicle, usually only one seat (maximum two) is available. It is allocated on a 'first booked, first transported' basis.
  • Yes, this is easily possible and is a lot of fun for many participants. Everything is organized just as well as for the motorcycle group. We are happy to create offers for 2 to 6 people.
