The official currency in Belize is the Belize Dollar (BZD). It has a fixed exchange rate of 2 BZD to 1 USD. Credit cards are accepted in many stores, but it is advisable to carry cash for local markets and remote areas. ATMs are available in cities but not always in rural areas.
