On our guided tours you sit back in an air-conditioned minibus or coach while an experienced tour guide takes care of the driving, so you can simply enjoy the scenery and the stops along the way. If you'd rather be behind the wheel yourself, choose one of our self-drive tours instead: a valid driving licence is all you need, and some experience on open roads helps.
You won't bring your own vehicle on either style of trip. On guided tours we provide the minibus or coach for the whole group, and on self-drive tours we hand you the rental car right at Auckland Airport and you return it in Christchurch at the end of the journey. That keeps the route flexible without you worrying about maintenance or insurance along the way.
Daily distances vary by tour and by day. Some days you stay in one place and explore on foot or by boat, other days bring a longer drive, such as the 234 km stretch from Auckland to Paihia on one of our self-drive routes. Our New Zealand round trips run from 3089 EUR for the 18 day self-drive tour with rental car, up to 5659 EUR for the 24 day self-drive round trip covering both islands. Guided coach tours with a tour guide sit in between, depending on length and hotel category.
Depending on the tour, this includes hotel, motel or B&B accommodation, breakfast, the ferry crossing between the North and South Island and, on guided tours, an English speaking tour guide. Self-drive tours include the rental car with basic insurance. International flights and most lunches and dinners are usually not included.
That depends on the tour: our guided round trips run in groups of between 4 and 26 travellers, depending on the route. If you prefer to travel independently, our self-drive tours with rental car are bookable from 1 person up to 8 travellers.
After booking you receive a confirmation with all payment details and deadlines for the deposit and the final balance. Our team will confirm the exact amounts and dates as soon as your tour and travel dates are fixed.
