Italy Travel and Vacation – Good to know

German citizens do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days. For other nationalities, please check the visa requirements online. A visa can be applied for online, but entry based on a visa is often not available upon arrival. Plan ahead to fulfill all documents and requirements.

The Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is the largest and best-connected airport for international arrivals. Alternatively, the Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) also offers good options. These airports are optimal for motorcycle trips as they provide many transport and rental options to make your journey easier.

In Italy, the Euro (€) is used. It is advisable to have some cash for smaller purchases or in rural areas where cards are sometimes not accepted. However, most large retailers and restaurants accept Visa and MasterCard, so you do not have to carry everything in cash.

For Italy, no specific mandatory vaccinations are required. Nevertheless, it is recommended to take out comprehensive travel insurance that also covers breakdowns and accidents while riding a motorcycle. This provides safety and protection against unforeseen expenses during your motorcycle trip.

To ride a motorcycle in Italy, you need a valid driver's license (at least category A1 for motorcycles up to 125cc or A for larger machines). If your driver's license is not in English, you should consider an international driver's license to avoid possible language barriers.
