Romania Travel and Vacation – Good to know

For most travelers from the EU, the USA, and many other countries, no visa is required to enter Romania. A stay of up to 90 days is usually visa-free. For longer stays or specific nationalities, it is advisable to contact the Romanian embassy. The application for a visa is usually done before entry and is not available at the airport.
Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest is the largest and best airport for international flights. Alternatively, you can also use Avram Iancu International Airport in Cluj-Napoca or Târgu Mureș International Airport. These airports offer good connections to the most popular motorcycle tours in Romania.
The local currency in Romania is the Leu (RON). It is advisable to carry cash, as not all places accept credit cards, especially in rural areas. ATMs are widely available, and one can usually also pay with Visa or MasterCard. Plan to exchange some cash before traveling or withdraw it at the airport.
A travel insurance is strongly recommended, but no specific vaccinations are necessary. Check your standard vaccinations and make sure you take out a comprehensive travel insurance that also covers motorcycle rides. This protects you in the event of an accident or illness during your trip through Romania.
To ride a motorcycle in Romania, you need a valid driver's license that allows motorcycle riding. An EU driver's license is valid, and international driver's licenses are also accepted. Check whether your driver's license is recognized in Romania, especially if you live outside the EU. Motorcycle insurance is also mandatory.
