MOTORCYCLE-TOURS · BRAZIL
The Sertões is the largest rally adventure of the Americas and takes place every year in Brazil since 1993. A wild cross-country ride for motorcycles, cars, UTVs, and quads, across remote, rugged corners of the country. Every year, a new, exciting route awaits.
The Journey
It all started on two wheels. Inspired by rallies like Paris-Dakar, 34 motorcyclists started in 1993 in Brazil for the first Rally dos Sertões, back then still without much technology, but with plenty of adventurous spirit. The route led from Campos do Jordão to Natal and laid the foundation for over 30 years of rally history. Soon international stars and Dakar winners joined in. From 1995 onwards, cars were allowed to participate, trucks followed in 1998, and since 2012, UTVs (these cool side-by-sides) have been at the start. Today, the Sertões is part of the FIA and FIM World Championship and has attracted legends like Peterhansel, Sainz, and Al-Attiyah. The 30th anniversary in 2022 was completely crazy: In 15 days, it went through 8 states and 14 cities, over 7,200 km, 60% of which were timed. It was the longest and hardest Sertões of all time, with legendary routes and new highlights. From Foz do Iguaçu at the three-country corner through the canyons of Viana to the beach of Salinópolis. Whoever made it through was a true hero.

DI: 26 km / SS: 283 km / DF: 227 km - Total: 536 km After a short approach, the participants cross side roads with solid ground between small farms, dotted with many curves. This technically demanding test of skill will demand everything from drivers and co-drivers already in the first kilometers.
DI: 40 km / SS: 301 km / DF: 75 km - Total: 416 km The longest special stage of the Sertões 2025 begins quickly on farm roads with a passage through a mountain range - about 100 km will be covered on this terrain. After the fuel stop, the scenario changes: narrow, technical sand roads with many curves follow. In the last kilometers, the paths through small farms become even tighter, with some trial sections.
DI: 80 km / SS: 290 km / DF: 64 km - Total: 434 km The evaluation section starts in a dense forest area, where some mud holes are possible. The route continues over narrow side roads with a surface that resembles that of the Seridó region.
DI: 19 km / SS: 276 km / DF: 183 km - Total: 478 km Winding side roads form the first part of the special stage up to kilometer 78, where the ascent of a steep mountain pass with rocky ground begins over the next 13 km. The route remains technical and requires special attention up to kilometer 131, where a 10 km long sequence of trial sections begins. Narrow, stony paths complete the day's challenge, the first of the marathon. Here, caution with the tires is advised to avoid punctures. In Xique-Xique, only the participants themselves are allowed to service their vehicles within the time set by the regulations.

DI: 51 km / SS: 296 km / DF: 123 km - Total: 470 km On the second day of the marathon, drivers and co-drivers encounter the sand dunes of the region Xique-Xique. They form the terrain for the first 224 km of the special stage - wide roads with solid sand. Afterwards follows a mountainous section with stones, which concludes the special stage of the day. Here too, attention to the tires will be crucial again.
DI: 78 km / SS: 280 km / DF: 57 km - Total: 415 km The sixth stage begins on fast and winding sand tracks with firm sand, which become narrower from kilometer 80, when the ground changes to Piçarra (reddish gravel). River crossings and the change between Piçarra and gravel lead up to the refueling. From there, caution is advised in a winding section with loose stones, where the vehicles tend to slide. Heavy sand and trial sections characterize the last 30 km.
DI: 9 km / SS: 235 km / DF: 175 km - Total: 419 km The evaluation test leads over secondary roads, which switch between sand and Piçarra ground and require a lot of navigation. Trial sections are the biggest challenge in the final kilometers.
DI: 40 km / SS: 254 km / DF: 20 km - Total: 314 km No breather on the last day, which can decide the race. The loop special stage requires a lot of navigation when crossing forest sections with trial parts.
