Costa Rica Travel and Vacation – Good to know

German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. A valid passport is the only requirement for entry. It is recommended to have return tickets and proof of sufficient financial means. More information can be found on the consular services website.
Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José is the best airport to reach Costa Rica. It offers numerous international connections and is the largest airport in the country. Alternatively, you can also choose the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, which is optimal for traveling to the northwest.
The currency in Costa Rica is the Colón (CRC). It is advisable to carry cash for small purchases and transportation. Credit cards are accepted in most restaurants and hotels; however, local markets and taxis may sometimes only prefer cash. ATMs are widely available in large cities.
