Travellers from the EU, UK, US and most other Western countries do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days. Rules can change, so check your country's requirements before you book. Morocco does not offer visa on arrival — if you need one, apply online or at a Moroccan consulate before your trip. Your passport must be valid.

Most of our Morocco motorcycle tours start from Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK). It has direct flights from most European cities and sits close to the Atlas Mountains, where many of our routes begin. Casablanca Airport (CMN) is the second option, with cheap connections to Marrakech, Fes and Ouarzazate by train or domestic flight. If you plan to ride in the south, flying into Ouarzazate Airport (OZZ) can save you a full day of transfer. Book your flight at least two months ahead for the best price.

Morocco uses the Dirham (MAD), and you cannot buy it outside the country — exchange euros or dollars on arrival at the airport or in any city. Bring enough cash for daily costs, since small shops, roadside cafés and rural areas rarely take cards. You will find ATMs in every city, but not along desert routes, so withdraw before you leave paved roads. Larger hotels and restaurants in Marrakech, Fes and Casablanca accept Visa and Mastercard. Tell your bank before you travel so they don't block your card on the first purchase abroad.

Doctors usually recommend Hepatitis A, Tetanus and Typhoid shots before you travel to Morocco. None are legally required, but check with your doctor 4–6 weeks before departure.

Travel insurance is not optional for a motorcycle tour. Make sure yours covers motorcycle accidents, medical evacuation and repatriation — an air ambulance back to Europe can cost tens of thousands of euros. Many standard policies exclude bikes over 125cc or off-road riding, so read the small print. We can recommend specialist riders' insurance if you need it.

You need a valid motorcycle licence (category A) to ride in Morocco. EU, UK and US licences are accepted, but we strongly recommend bringing an International Driving Permit (IDP) as well. Moroccan police occasionally ask for it at checkpoints, and it also helps if you need to deal with paperwork after an accident. The IDP costs around 20 € at home and usually takes one day to get — apply through your national automobile club before you travel.
