Note for the Trans Africa Expedition:
Important note on booking
Please note that this trip is an expedition. The description above is not a classic travel description but a rough route overview based on experiences from past expeditions.
A booking is only possible after a personal conversation and confirmed participation.
The starting fee may only be transferred after reading the special expedition terms and conditions and after official confirmation of participation.
No package travel offer
We expressly point out that this 4x4 expedition is neither a package tour nor a classic off-road vehicle tour.
The stated price is exclusively to be understood as a starting price.
According to § 651 BGB, this is not a package travel offer.
Every participant is aware that there are travel warnings or partial travel warnings from the Foreign Office for all countries to be traversed. These notices must be read before booking and are expressly accepted upon participation in the expedition.
Flexible route and destination
The exact course of the expedition - including the kilometers to be covered and the countries traversed - will be individually adjusted to the actual conditions during the trip.
While South Africa is the planned destination, there is no guarantee that it will be reached.
The organizer expressly reserves the right to change or shorten the expedition route in case of unforeseen events such as force majeure, political developments, or time constraints.
Adventure instead of fixed route
The starting point is Southern Europe, the planned destination is South Africa - everything in between is part of the adventure.
The entire travel schedule will be continuously adapted to local conditions.
Since 2016, we have been conducting Trans Africa expeditions. In accordance with German travel law, we expressly point out:
This trip is the endeavor to reach a specific destination - not a guarantee.
Transparency through preliminary meeting
All participants will receive the actual planned route as well as all relevant information and insights that we have gathered over the last ten years of expedition experience at the preliminary meeting of the Trans Africa expedition.
Community and Responsibility
One for all, all for one" - that is the motto of this extraordinary adventure trip through Africa.
Team spirit, flexibility, and personal responsibility are essential requirements for participation in this expedition.
For a personal conversation, you are also welcome to visit us in the office in the Old Town of Tübingen,
because THIS is the adventure ;-)
Travel law and the German § bureaucracy:
Due to German "legal" bureaucracy and regulations, we hereby explicitly point out that travel is dangerous and this event takes place through crisis areas and dangerous continents such as Africa and Europe!
This "event" is an expedition and not a package tour within the meaning of § 651a BGB!
For this reason, the starting fee includes only organizational services, such as expedition planning, route options, provision of a guide, as well as communication and emergency equipment.
No overnight accommodations, transport services, meal services or other travel law relevant individual services are provided by OVERCROSS as part of a total package!
All logistical services such as overnight stays, transport, meals, vehicle provision, flights, hotel or lodge bookings, etc. are not part of the expedition and will be provided by external service providers or borne by the participants themselves.
Thus, there is no package of at least two main travel services that would constitute a package tour (§651a BGB).
The expedition is therefore not subject to package travel law.
Changes to the route, travel progress, overnight locations, and daily routines are integral to the expedition character and do not constitute a defect.
