Note for the Trans Africa Expedition:
Important note on booking
Please note that this trip is an expedition. The above description is not a classic travel description, but a rough itinerary based on experiences from past expeditions.
A booking is only possible after a personal conversation and confirmed participation.
The start fee may only be transferred after reading the special expedition terms and conditions and receiving official participation confirmation.
No package travel offer
We explicitly point out that this 4x4 expedition is neither a package tour nor a classic off-road tour.
The stated price is to be understood solely as a starting price.
According to § 651 BGB, this is not a package travel offer.
Every participant is aware that travel warnings or partial travel warnings from the Foreign Office exist for all countries to be traversed. These warnings must be read before booking and are expressly accepted by participating in the expedition.
Flexible route and destination
The exact course of the expedition - including the distances to be covered and the countries traversed - will be individually adapted to the actual conditions during the journey.
While South Africa is the planned destination, there is no guarantee that it will be reached.
The organizer expressly reserves the right to change or shorten the expedition route in the event of unforeseen events such as force majeure, political developments, or time constraints.
Adventure instead of fixed route
The starting point is Southern Europe, the planned destination is South Africa - everything in between is part of the adventure.
The entire itinerary will be continuously adjusted to local conditions.
Since 2016, we have been conducting Trans Africa expeditions. In accordance with German travel law, we explicitly point out:
This trip aims to reach a specific destination - not to guarantee it.
Transparency through pre-meetings
All participants receive the actual planned route and all relevant information and insights gathered during ten years of expedition experience at the pre-meeting of the Trans Africa expedition.
Community and responsibility
"One for all, all for one" - that is the motto of this extraordinary adventure trip through Africa.
Team spirit, flexibility, and personal responsibility are essential prerequisites for participation in this expedition.
You are also welcome to visit us for a personal conversation in the office in the Old Town of Tübingen,
because THIS is the adventure ;-)
Travel law and the German § Bureaucracy:
Due to the German "bureaucratic control" and regulations, we hereby expressly point out that traveling is dangerous and this event leads through crisis areas and dangerous continents such as Africa and Europe!
This "event" is an expedition and not a package tour within the meaning of § 651a BGB!
For this reason, the start fee exclusively covers organizational services, such as expedition planning, route options, provision of a guide, as well as communication and emergency equipment.
There are no overnight accommodations, transport services, meal services, or other travel-related individual services provided by OVERCROSS in the sense of a total package!
All logistical services such as accommodations, transport, meals, vehicle provision, flights, hotel or lodge bookings, etc. are not included in the expedition and will be provided by external providers or borne independently by the participants.
Thus, there is no package of at least two main travel services that would lead to a package tour (§651a BGB).
The expedition is therefore not subject to package travel law.
Changes in the route, travel progress, overnight locations, and daily routines are integral parts of the character of the expedition and do not constitute a defect.
