Es gibt Camping- und Hotelübernachtungen. Jede 3. Nach soll in einem Hotel stattfinden, um den Reisenden Komfort und Erholung zu ermöglichen.

The Europe - Ivory Coast Expedition is the 1st section of the TransAfrica West: The Long Way Down. Due to the length of the TransAfrica expedition, we have split it into two parts that you can also book individually. On this motorcycle expedition, you will experience northern Africa from Morocco to the capital Accra in Ghana from Benin.

So if you don't have 55 days for the The Long Way Down West Expedition, you are in the right place for the northern part.

Introduction to the Motorcycle Expedition

On our motorcycle expedition, we travel from the southernmost point of Spain, Algeciras, to Ghana, Accra! You have two travel options for these motorcycle tours: You travel from home with your motorcycle to Algeciras and save yourself the flight. You have your motorcycle transported to Algeciras by us and save yourself the frostbite of the journey. Together we cover approximately 5,555 breathtaking kilometers and discover the Ivory Coast route to Ghana on the motorcycle tour. When it comes to motorcycle and enduro expeditions, you are in the best hands with us (the motorcycle tour operator OVERCROSS). We have been conducting guided motorcycle tours since 2016 for motorcycle and off-road vehicle drivers.

Daily program: Motorcycle Expedition Ivory Coast

Day 1: Arrival and Ferry

After receiving the enduros or arriving with your own motorcycle from your home country, we will head to the ferry after a tour briefing. We cross over with the ferry. We start the Europe - Ivory Coast expedition with the crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar from Algeciras to Ceuta in Morocco.

Day 2: Through the High Atlas to Marrakech

Marrakech will be our logistical stopover before we go through the diverse High Atlas where we will cross the Tizi n'Test Pass at 2093m if the weather permits.

Day 3: Motorcycle trip to Morocco / Western Sahara

The guided motorcycle expedition takes us to Western Sahara, where we will spend New Year's Eve in a kasbah (an old fortress). Passing Tan-Tan, the route leads us along the Atlantic Ocean towards the south, on an endlessly appearing straight road to the museum of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (author of The Little Prince). Then we reach El Aaiún, the largest city in Western Sahara with 218,000 inhabitants. Along the coast, we pass a shipwreck from the time when the Canary Islands were still connected to the African continent by a ferry.

Day 4: Motorcycle trip to Mauritania

From there we travel into Mauritania. Nouadhibou will be a stop for us to gather material; along the Atlantic Ocean, we reach Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania. We will overnight here in a special, but very cool and modest accommodation, above and over the roofs of the city. We pass through the capital of Mauritania, Nouakchott, and set our sights on the endless sand dunes of the Mauritanian desert.

Day 5: Motorcycle trip to Senegal

Next, we cross the border to the charming colonial city of St. Louis. We spend the night in the legendary Zebra Bar before reaching our stage destination Dakar. Through the Sahel region, a transitional area between the dry savannah in the south and the Sahara desert in the north, we arrive in Dakar.

Day 6: Rest day in Dakar

Here in Dakar we take a rest day to catch our breath. We visit, among other things, the largest mosque in West Africa before we set off for the border crossing to Guinea.

Day 7: Motorcycle trip to Guinea

Then we cross the border into Guinea. The passage through Guinea will likely be difficult again due to road conditions and poor fuel supply in the country. However, we expect that – as in previous years – we will manage the problems in Guinea and reach the border to the Ivory Coast with the last liters of fuel in the tank.

Motorcycle tour to Ivory Coast

Upon arrival in the Ivory Coast, we continue our motorcycle expedition through Man and Gagnoa over winding roads through lush rainforests and dense vegetation. Via sandy paths, we reach the coastal regions of the Ivory Coast and have a clear view of the Atlantic Ocean again.

Motorcycle journey to the final destination in Ghana

Next comes the marathon stage to Accra in Ghana. This stage will lead more or less from one construction site to the next and includes very long daily stages with driving times of up to 12 hours. Here in the capital Accra, our motorcycle adventure ends; the expedition participants catch their breath briefly and set off one day later for the Trans Africa expedition to Cape Town in South Africa.

Please note that this motorcycle journey is not a conventional motorcycle trip in the sense of a package tour, as this journey is an expedition. The above description is meant only as a guideline and is not recommended for following in the same way. These motorcycle journeys through Africa are indeed guided motorcycle tours organized by the travel agency OVERCROSS, BUT in this specific case, we are NOT talking about a package motorcycle trip, but rather about an expedition that remains a unique motorcycle adventure with all its disadvantages.
