MOTORCYCLE-TOURS · AFRICA
This motorcycle tour runs from Marrakech to the Ivory Coast. It is a 21-day trip across West Africa. You cross the Atlas Mountains and the huge Sahara. The route ends in Accra, Ghana. The trip is part one of our long Trans Africa trip. No time for the full 55-day ride? This short tour is for you.
The Journey
The motorcycle trip starts in Marrakech. From here you climb the Atlas Mountains. Then you ride south into the Sahara. The trip covers about 5,555 km across West Africa. You have two ways to join. Ride your own bike to the start. Or let us ship your bike to Marrakech. Both options work well. We run guided motorcycle tours since 2016. Our team knows each mile of the Atlas and Sahara route. You are in safe hands with OVERCROSS. This is a real Ivory Coast trip, not a package tour.
Your motorcycle tour starts in Marrakech. The bikes wait for you on arrival. You meet the group and the guide. Walk the old souks in the evening. Get ready for the Atlas Mountains ride tomorrow.
Today you ride the Atlas Mountains. The road twists up high passes. The views are huge. You cross the Tizi n'Test Pass at 2,093 m. The Atlas is one of the best stages of the whole trip.
You leave the Atlas and roll south. The green hills fade. The sand starts. Soon you hit the real Sahara. Camp under the stars on day three of the trip.
You ride into Mauritania today. First stop: Nouadhibou. Then you follow the Atlantic coast to Nouakchott. Nouakchott is the capital. You sleep in a cool spot on the city rooftops. Next the tour heads to the huge sand dunes.
You cross into Senegal. First stop is Saint-Louis, an old colonial town. You stay at the famous Zebra Bar. The trip then rolls through the Sahel zone. The Sahel sits between the Sahara and the savannah. You reach Dakar by evening.

You enter the Ivory Coast. The tour rolls through Man and Gagnoa. The roads twist through green rainforest. Sandy paths lead you to the coast. You see the Atlantic Ocean again. The Ivory Coast stage is pure magic.
Now comes the long ride to Accra in Ghana. The road is full of works and dust. Some days are long — up to 12 hours in the saddle. Accra is the end of your motorcycle tour. Riders who want more head south to Cape Town.
This is not a package tour. It is a real trip. The route above is only a guide. Plans can change. Roads can change. That is part of the fun. OVERCROSS runs the trip, but the real boss is Africa.
