Serbia Travel and Vacation – Good to know

For entry into Serbia citizens of many countries do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. However, make sure you have a valid passport. Check online for the specific requirements for your country in case a visa is necessary. Visas can usually be applied for before arrival, but entry via visa-on-arrival is not possible.
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) is the best entry point for international travelers. This airport offers numerous connections from Europe and beyond. As the largest airport in the country, BEG is well-equipped with facilities such as car rentals, restaurants, and transport options to the city, making arrival easier.
The local currency in Serbia is the dinar (RSD). Cash payments are common, while credit cards are accepted in larger stores and restaurants. It is advisable to always have some cash on hand as not all small businesses accept cards. ATMs are widespread, but only use bank ATMs to avoid unnecessary fees.
No special vaccinations are required for entry into Serbia, but routine vaccinations such as tetanus, diphtheria, and hepatitis A are recommended. A travel insurance is advisable to protect against health emergencies and unexpected incidents. Check the insurance conditions before booking and stay.
To drive in Serbia, you need a valid driver's license from your home country or, if your driver's license is not in Latin script, an international driving permit. Note that seat belts are mandatory and traffic rules are strictly enforced. Public transportation is good, but a car gives you more freedom to explore the country.
To purchase local SIM cards, visit mobile providers such as Telekom Serbia or Telenor. Most large stores and shopping malls also offer SIM cards. Make sure your phone is unlocked before using the SIM card. Prepaid plans are affordable and easy to activate, which is particularly convenient for tourists.
