Romania Travel and Vacation – Good to know
German citizens do not need a visa for stays up to 90 days. For longer stays, you must apply for a visa. This can usually be applied for online or at the embassy. Check the current entry requirements depending on your country of origin, as these may change.
Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP) in Bucharest is the largest and best-connected airport in Romania. It offers numerous international connections and is an ideal starting point for your trip. The Justinien Marina Airport in Cluj-Napoca is also recommended for travel to the Transylvanian region.
The local currency of Romania is the Leu (RON). Credit cards are accepted in many shops and restaurants, but it's advisable to also carry cash, especially in rural areas. ATMs are widely available, and currency exchange offices can be found in most cities.
No specific vaccinations are required, but it is advisable to check standard vaccinations. A travel insurance is recommended to cover unexpected medical costs. Also, inform yourself about hospitals and pharmacies in the area you are visiting.
