Norway Travel and Vacation – Good to know

Visa is not required for citizens of many countries; EU/EFTA nationals can stay for up to 90 days. For other nationalities, a Schengen visa may be required. This must be applied for before the trip. The application is done online or at the nearest Norwegian embassy. A visa cannot be issued upon arrival.
The Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) is the main international airport in Norway. From here there are excellent connections to other cities. Alternatively, the airports in Bergen (BGO) and Stavanger (SVG) are recommended if your destination is in these regions. Oslo also offers good access to public transport.
The local currency is the Norwegian Krone (NOK). Credit cards are accepted in most stores and restaurants, however, it is advisable to have some cash for smaller purchases. ATMs are widespread, and you can also use a travel credit card to save on fees.
No specific vaccinations are required for entry into Norway, although standard vaccinations are advisable. A travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover unexpected costs due to illness or injury. Check your policies for necessary coverage before traveling.
To drive in Norway, you need a valid driving license. An EU driving license is recognized. For longer stays, it may be sensible to present an international driving license. Furthermore, note that Norway has strict traffic rules, so drive carefully!
To stay connected in Norway, you can buy a SIM card. These are usually available at airports, kiosks, and supermarkets. Popular providers are Telenor and Telia. Look for prepaid options that are often cheaper for tourists.
