Experience Morocco, an adventure land full of contrasts! Discover the fascinating deserts, immerse yourself in the colorful markets of Marrakech, and enjoy camping in the Sahara.
Morocco is one of the most exciting adventure destinations in North Africa. In a single trip you can sleep in a Sahara desert camp, trek through the High Atlas Mountains and wander the souks of Marrakech. Few countries pack so much into one week. Our Morocco adventure tours mix real travel with comfort. You will stay in traditional riads, camp under the stars near Merzouga and share mint tea with Berber families in their mountain villages. We also take you to events like the Gnaoua World Music Festival in Essaouira and to small roadside places where the tagine is cooked the old way. Overcross has been running guided adventure tours in Morocco for over 25 years. We plan every route ourselves and travel it before we sell it.
German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. A visa is required for longer stays or other nationalities. The application can be submitted at the Moroccan embassy or consulate. A visa on arrival is not offered. Check the current regulations to avoid issues.
The Marrakech-Menara Airport is very popular with tourists. Other important airports are Casablanca (Mohammed V.) and Fès-Saïs. Marrakech offers quick access to many attractions. It is advisable to book in advance to secure better prices.
The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). Credit cards are accepted in many shops and restaurants, but not everywhere. It is wise to carry cash for smaller amounts. ATMs are widely available, but be cautious of high withdrawal fees. Check the exchange rates.
Although vaccinations are not mandatory, it is recommended to update the standard vaccinations. A travel insurance is advisable to cover medical emergencies. Check if your insurance offers worldwide coverage and take copies of your policies with you. Also, familiarize yourself with the local healthcare facilities.
An international driving license as well as the national driving license are required to drive legally in Morocco. Note that driving is not an easy task; road conditions can vary. Rent a car only if you feel confident. Alternatively, taxis and public transport are a good option.
