Montenegro Travel and Vacation – Good to know

German citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days. For longer stays, a visa must be applied for. The application can be submitted online or at the Montenegrin embassy. Please note that the visa is not available on arrival. Check the latest information on visa requirements for your nationality before traveling.
The Podgorica Airport (TGD) is the largest and best-connected airport in Montenegro. Alternatively, there is Tivat Airport (TIV), which is primarily operated seasonally. From the airport, transfer services, taxis, or rental cars can be used to reach your destination, especially for off-road adventures. Plan your arrival times accordingly.
The official currency of Montenegro is the Euro (EUR). Credit cards are accepted in most cities, but it is advisable to bring cash for more rural areas, markets, and smaller shops. ATMs are easy to find, however, some may be absent in remote areas. Make sure you have enough euros for off-road travel and unforeseen expenses.
Vaccinations are not strictly necessary, but health authorities recommend common vaccinations such as tetanus and hepatitis A.
