Yes, you need a visa to enter Bhutan. The visa cannot be applied for on arrival. Instead, you must apply for it online through an authorized agency. Make sure to submit your application at least 30 days before your trip to avoid issues. All necessary documents will be checked upon entry.
The best airport for international flights is the Paro International Airport. It offers connections to several Asian cities and provides breathtaking views during the landing approach. Note that the airport is affected by severe weather and visual flight can be challenging. Plan your trip so that you arrive in good weather.
The local currency in Bhutan is the Ngultrum (Nu), and Indian Rupees are also accepted. Credit cards are accepted in urban areas, but for rural regions you should bring cash. Bring enough cash, as ATMs are not available everywhere. In Bhutan, it is unrestrictedly possible to exchange money in larger cities.
Before embarking on your journey, you should ensure that you have the necessary vaccinations.
