The Journey

Land of Eagles 4x4 Round Trip through Albania

This Albania off-road round trip lasts seven days and covers around 1,000 kilometers, mostly off the asphalt. As a Balkan off-road tour in Albania, the journey starts at Lake Shkodra, leads into the Shala Mountains to Theth, and continues to the turquoise Koman Lake. The Albania all-wheel drive tour then passes through Lura National Park and the Dibra Mountains to Mount Tomorri at 2,416 meters. In the south, it follows Osum Canyon, the thermal springs of Permet, Gjirokastra, Berat, Butrint, and the Riviera – as a guided off-road trip in Albania on trails that are not on any tourist map.

Trip includes

  • No. As an EU citizen, you can enter visa-free – an ID card or passport is sufficient. Entering with your own vehicle is easily possible for this Albania off-road round trip. If you are not from the EU, check the entry regulations in advance.
  • A suitable 4x4 with low range and sufficient ground clearance – for example, a Defender, Land Cruiser, or Hilux. For several sections of this Albania 4x4 round trip, all-wheel drive is a requirement, not an option. You can book a rental vehicle upon request.
  • Medium difficulty. This Albania off-road round trip combines technical mountain tracks in the north with more moderate gravel roads in the south. You should have basic off-road driving skills. The guide leads the way and shows you the optimal line on difficult sections.
  • It is not suitable for absolute off-road beginners. If you have already driven a Balkan road trip on gravel roads or completed basic training, you'll do well on this Land of Eagles 4x4 trip. The guide actively supports you on challenging sections.
  • Travel organization, guide for all seven days, five camping nights, and technical support are included. Excluded are meals, the two apartment nights, fuel, your travel to the starting point, and personal expenses.
  • A maximum of six vehicles, a minimum of four. A small group is intentionally chosen for the narrow mountain tracks of this Albania off-road round trip – more personal, faster, and more flexible than a large convoy.
  • The main roads are well developed. This Albania 4x4 round trip deliberately takes you off these roads – over mountain trails, forest roads, and riverbed crossings. You cannot pass these sections with a regular car.
